3+2 Accelerated Nursing Program at John Carroll University
By earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master’s of Nursing in just five years, you’ll accelerate your future and broaden your options. This degree qualifies you to work as an RN, a research nurse, nurse educator, clinical nurse specialist, and nurse administrator. It also puts you on a direct path to career advancement through certification in a number of advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) specialties.

Master of Nursing students complete 1,000 clinical hours in four semesters at prominent health care organizations and world-class hospitals, including Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, and MetroHealth Medical Center.
The 3+2 Nursing program unites two degrees and two research-focused schools. At John Carroll, all biology students have the opportunity to participate in research. Our faculty consider this key to developing mentoring relationships and honing laboratory skills. This makes for a smoother transition to the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, which is globally recognized for its leadership in research.
During our annual trip to Honduras, our pre-health students offer medical services to the very poor. Medical professionals from the Cleveland community join us, providing care and acting as mentors to students. On this week-long trip, you’ll participate in a number of medical brigades where simple diagnoses are made and medicines are distributed. We also work on public health mapping projects.
