    Resources for working with nonprofit leadership and governance.
  • Charity Navigator
    Charity Navigator Logo
    Charity evaluation and ratings, searchable by categories, location, or keywords.
  • CharityWatch
    Charity Watch logo
    Rates and lists top-rated charities by category.
  • Foundation Center (a service of Candid)
    Founder Center logo
    Access to the Foundation Directory, a comprehensive database on U.S. and, increasingly, global grantmakers and their grants. It also operates research, education, and training programs designed to advance knowledge of philanthropy at every level. Cleveland is home to one of the five Foundation Center library/learning centers.
  • Grants.Gov
    Search and apply for federal grants by keywords or more specific criteria. All discretionary grants offered by the 26 federal grant-making agencies can be found on Grants.gov. You do not have to register with Grants.gov to find grant opportunities.
  • GrantSpace
    A service of the Foundation Center, GrantSpace offers information and resources that are specifically designed to meet the needs of nonprofits worldwide.
  • GuideStar (a service of Candid)

    Gathers and disseminates information about every single IRS-registered nonprofit organization. Provides information about each nonprofit’s mission, legitimacy, impact, reputation, finances, programs, transparency, governance, and more.
  • National Center for Charitable Statistics
    The national repository of data on the nonprofit sector in the United States. Here you can find information on organizations, view IRS Form 990 images, analyze financial data on the sector, look at trends in charitable giving, or download data.
  • The NonProfit Times
    Nonprofit administration news, jobs, grant information, and other resources.
  • Nonprofit Tech for Good
    Provides valuable, easy-to-understand information, news, and resources related to nonprofit technology, online communications, and mobile and social fundraising.
  • Ohio Humanities Council
    Check under “Grant Guidelines” for information on awards. The Council’s mission is “to increase Ohioans’ appreciation and understanding of the humanities.”
  • Ohio Arts Council
    The Ohio Arts Council offers limited funding for art-related projects. Proposal submission and grants administration is handled by the online OLGA system.
  • Philanthropy News Digest (a service of Candid)
    Philanthropy News Digest logo
    PND is a daily news service of Candid. It is a compendium, in digest form, of philanthropy-related articles and features culled from print and electronic media outlets nationwide. Each PND abstract summarizes the content of, or from, an original article, press or news release, or grantmaker website. Each abstract includes a citation of the original news source, which readers of the Digest can use to read the original Web site, or to find a copy of the original article (if abstracted from a print source) through a library or a document delivery service. Sign up for the Philanthropy News Digest newsletter, published on Tuesdays, to get a full week’s news in one place.
  • Sponsored Programs Information Network (SPIN)
    Spin Quick Search Logo
    A fully searchable database of federal and non-federal funding opportunities, including funding for students. SPIN is available from any John Carroll University network connected computer.
