Interim COVID-19 Amnesty Update

In an effort to increase communication and safety on our campus, the amnesty policy will be extended to cover information found through self-reporting COVID-19 test statuses to the John Carroll Student Health Center, as well as information gathered through contact tracing. In alignment with our existing policies, amnesty will be applied to violations of University Policy that are not egregious. Depending on the situation, education interventions may be explored.  Below are examples where the amnesty policy would be in effect.

Example 1: An underage student showed symptoms and got a COVID-19 test that came back positive. When talking to John Carroll Student Health Center staff, they learned the student was exposed to the virus while at a party off campus.

Example 2: While conducting contact tracing with a student who tested positive for COVID-19, they list 30 friends that were at a party off campus.

Example 3: While talking with a student who tested positive for COVID-19, they inform the John Carroll Student Health Center staff of another student that may be positive, and who is still attending parties.
