Michael Bowen, Ph.D. Post-election analysis by Slate magazine has cited a book by Michael Bowen, Ph.D., visiting assistant professor of history at John Carroll University. The analysis, which includes a quote from Bowen’s “Roots of Modern Conservatism: Dewey, Taft, and the Battle for the Soul of the Republican Party,” was later posted on the CBS News website. Bowen’s book also has been cited in recent Chicago Tribune and Los Angeles Times columns. Bowen earned his Ph.D. in American history from the University of Florida. His research and teaching interests include cultural and political history.
