Today, April 11, 2016, the 15th annual A Celebration of Scholarship! commenced on John Carroll University’s campus. The Theology and Religious Studies department will also be represented by Faculty and students at this important scholarly event. Dr. Zeki Saritoprak, Director of the Bediuzzaman Said Nursi Chair in Islamic Studies will be a guest speaker at the Scholarly Lunch with Dr. Marc Kirschenbaum (Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, John Carroll University) which will take place on Tuesday, April 12, at noon in the Dolan Science Center, O’Connell Reading Room.  In the individual paper sessions, graduate students Mary Coffey’s  “Praying with Images: Encountering God through Creative Expression” and Pam Chaney’s “Go and See”: Creating Community, Not Clients in Mark 6:34-44” will be held on Tuesday, April 12, between 2-3:15 p.m. in the Dolan Science Center, room A202. This session will be moderated by Dr. Elizabeth Antus, Assistant Professor in the TRS department. On Thursday, April 14, from 2 - 4:45 p.m., Michele Stopera Freyhauf, MA, ABDiss, faculty member in the TRS department will moderate two panels that will discuss the problem of Religion, Terror and Culture Wars. All the events are free and open to the public!
