UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS -- On the strength of a liberal arts curriculum that equips students with a broad perspective and critical thinking skills to overcome life’s challenges, John Carroll University once again earned the #2 spot among the Best Regional Universities in the Midwest according to the 2020 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges Rankings. 

John Carroll University is also the top-ranked institution in Ohio and the top-ranked Jesuit institution on the Midwest list. The distinction marks the second consecutive year that John Carroll has been ranked second and the 32nd consecutive year that JCU has been recognized in the top-10 of the Midwest rankings.

For regional rankings, U.S. News & World Report considers factors including graduation and retention rates, undergraduate academic reputation, social mobility, faculty resources, student selectivity, and average alumni giving rate, among others. 

John Carroll University also received strong rankings in the Midwest in a variety of categories including:

  • #16 in Best Value
  • #65 in Top Performers on Social Mobility
  • A+ Schools for B Students

JCU was recognized nationally in the following areas:

  • #157 in Undergraduate Business
