Chair-Elect

Eddie Carreon

Lord Edwin “Eddie” Carreon

“I’m Eddie Carreon and serve as the Associate Director of Residence Life. I’ve had the privilege of serving on Staff Council since its inception in 2014. As a former member of the Mission and Advocacy Committee and current Vice Chair for the Community Building & Networking Committee, I’ve enjoyed working with colleagues to create the new employee Campus Colleague Program, leading efforts around monthly social events, like the First Friday Coffee Hours, themed Lunch Hours, & Happy Hours, and advocate for staff on the University Committee on Educational Policies. I very much believe in the work of Staff Council and am excited about the prospect of serving as its Chair-Elect. I am honored to represent colleagues in this capacity and wish to continue bringing meaningful change to staff and uplifting their work.”

Lisa Ramsey

Vice Chair, Community Building and Networking

Lisa Ramsey

“I enjoy creating and sustaining positive relationships at work in order to maintain a supportive work environment in which everyone feels included and involved in the community. I will bring a fresh perspective and creative ideas to this committee. As we continue in this period of transition of leadership at JCU, I think it is more important than ever to provide opportunities for staff to connect and support each other in order to keep our community strong. My strengths of woo, communication and empathy will help me lead the committee to welcome new staff so they too can make connections at JCU. After 14 years at JCU I welcome the opportunity to give back to the community in this exciting new role!”

“My name is John Ambrose, and I am the Records & Operations Coordinator in the Office of the Registrar. In September of this year, I will celebrate my three year anniversary, as a staff member, at JCU. During my time as a staff member, I have forged many positive relationships with my colleagues, and I consider it a pleasure to work with such a wonderful group of individuals, who are dedicated to the community and student learning. I am also a current member of Staff Council and have served as an at-large member on the Membership, Governance, & Finance Committee during the past year. It has been a privilege to represent my colleagues on Staff Council, and I believe that my experience as an at-large member will serve me well in taking on the responsibilities associated with the position of Vice Chair for Communication & Assessment. Thank you.”

“I am honored to serve as a member of the staff council. As I am approaching my two year anniversary with John Carroll University, I want to be more intentional about engaging at a deeper level with our wonderful campus community. Serving as a member-at-large will allow for relationship building with my colleagues outside of my department/function, while also contributing to the quality, growth and improvement of our institution.”

“I joined the JCU staff in August 2017 as Administrative Assistant in the Languages department. I bring a positive energy and inclusive attitude to everything I do. I try to participate in campus activities when possible and have especially tried to support staff council events. As I get to know more of my colleagues, I feel increasingly fortunate to be a part of such a caring, dynamic community.”

“I have been a member of the JCU community for over 9 years. Over the years I have seen the University go through many changes and am glad of the opportunity to take a more active role in helping JCU continue to grow and develop. I have worked diligently for the Enrollment Division to help cultivate the amazing community of students we have on campus. As a member of Staff Council, I hope to have an impact on campus outside of my office and current position. I appreciate the ability to have my voice heard in the decision making that impacts the greater campus community and morale of staff members.”

“When we are all busy, it’s easy to forget what brings us together as a community and Staff Council encourages us to engage with one another at this level. The sense of community that Staff Council has created has made a difference in my experience as a staff member. This has encouraged me to contribute to its efforts by serving as a member at-large. Whether I am engaged in creating opportunities to socialize, representing staff to Senior Leadership, or fostering community, I am eager to serve.”

“I want to help create positive change for the employees of John Carroll University (JCU). As an active Information Technology Services (ITS) employee, I have met, interacted, and created relationships with almost every staff member at JCU. As a diverse individual, I can also empathize with multiple different perspectives of employees. As a professional, I recently led a project involving multiple departments to help the students gain access to printers in the residence halls. On a personal level, I have been searching for opportunities for growth and since I started the Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program at JCU, I have been eager to grow my leadership skills and value as an employee. I want to grow as a leader and I believe being apart of the staff council will be beneficial for both myself and the JCU staff.”

“Im a first-year staff member here at John Carroll and I’m excited to get involved in leadership with Staff Council. As the Director of WJCU, I manage, advise, and recruit for John Carroll’s college radio station. I’m comfortable organizing events, corralling volunteers, balancing a budget, decorating doors, and advocating for WJCU’s little corner of the community. I also teach in the Tim Russert Department of Communication & Theatre… so I have one foot in faculty business as well!

I’ve been a big fan of Staff Council happenings this year, particularly those organized by the Community Building & Networking Committee. These events welcomed me into the campus community and introduced me to all of you! I hope to serve on Staff Council and continue to bring more events, communication, camaraderie and visibility to John Carroll staff.”

“One of the best aspects of working at JCU are the opportunities to help promote and build our community. Along with my official job title of Assistant Controller, I co-chair the Wellness Program for Faculty and Staff, am a Title IX Investigator, and will be headed to the Appalachia region in May for an Immersion Experience. To be elected as a Staff Council-At-Large Member is truly an honor and will enable me to further serve our JCU community. I hold a BA from Ursuline College and have 24 years of accounting experience with the past 15 in a managerial role.”

Michael Nicholson

“I’m coming up on my 5th year here at JCU. I live close by, so the health of JCU as an institution is in my best interest. Since this place has become my community, the health of the community is also something that I care about. My 3 children will be blessed to take advantage of our tuition benefit and that is further reason why I can be counted on for the long term. This place isn’t just a job or even a career for me – it is my community.

I’m also one to believe in honoring my path. I started taking classes toward a business degree because it seemed to be in my path. I am now 50+ credits in with a 3.9 GPA. It seems that now Staff Council is also in my path.”
