Prior to Your Arrival to Campus
- Check out our list of considerations of What to Bring to Campus and What Not to Bring. We hope this information will make your packing easier! If you want to check out pictures of your room type including room dimensions, please review our Housing Options.
- As a reminder, we ask that roommates plan together if you decide to bring a fridge (max. 4.6 cubic ft) or microwave ( under 900 watts) so that there is only one of each appliance per room.
- Prior to arriving on campus, please make sure all of your belongings and boxes are labeled with your Name, Hall, Room, and Cell Phone Number. This will help us safely move your belongings to your room and expedite the unloading process.
- Because of the numerous construction projects on campus and limited parking, we ask that you bring no more than two vehicles (please, no trailers) with you as you move-in. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Arrival and Unloading Information
- Plan to enter campus from the main gate off of Warrensville Center Circle and 1 John Carroll Boulevard, University Heights, 44118. This will be the only gate that you will be able to enter campus from that day.
- Students moving into Dolan Hall will take a left once they have entered campus along Auxiliary Drive to the unloading and check in Zone by Rodman Hall.
- Students moving into Campion and Hamlin Halls will take a right once they have entered campus along Main Drive and will be guided to the check in location at a tent located in the Dolan East Parking Lot.
- Please have a form of identification to present to pick up your keys. Once you receive your keys you will be directed to your residence hall unloading zone.
- Once you pull up to the unloading zone, JCU students and staff will help you unload your vehicle and move your belongings to your room. The driver of the vehicle should stay with the vehicle so that it can be moved out of the unloading zone as soon as everything has been unloaded. The vehicle driver will be directed back to the Dolan East and West parking lots to park.
- Once the vehicle is unloaded, you can head to your room to begin unpacking and to meet your roommate and the other members of your community!
Enjoying Your First Day on Campus!
We are so excited you are joining the John Carroll University community and will be a member of our residential community! In addition to unpacking and settling into your room, there are many events planned to celebrate your arrival including:
- Streak Week events!
- Tower Time is a JCU tradition where the community gathers at St. Ignatius Plaza/Fountain for coffee, conversation, and treats. You and your family are invited to attend a special Tower Time at 1:50pm on move-in day!
- Your meal plan begins when you move-in. Once you are moved in, you and your family can enjoy lunch in the Schott Dining Hall. Lunch for your family members will cost $6/person.
- The Office of Student Enrollment and Financial Services will be open from 8:30am to 5:00pm.
As you begin your journey at John Carroll, we will be holding a special “Sending Ceremony” for you and your family. This ceremony will provide an opportunity for you to join with other first year students, their families, and members of the JCU community to say good-bye and thank you to your families as you begin your journey as a member of the John Carroll community. Don’t miss this special opportunity at 2:30pm at St. Ignatius Plaza.
