Please join us for the Last Lecture of David LaGuardia. The Last Lecture is a tradition where a person offers parting words of wisdom, and we're honored to invite you to Dr. LaGuardia's. David LaGuardia has been a professor of English at JCU for over fifty years, during which time he has served as Chair, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Provost of the University. He published a study of the poet Wallace Stevens--Advance on Chaos: The Sanctifying Imagination of Wallace Stevens (1983)--the winner of the Brown University first book prize. Central to his longtime service to the university is his profound engagement with students, who spend hours talking not just about Faulker, Hemingway, and Morrison, but about how this work connects to their own lives. He is a treasure to the university, and he will be missed when he retires at the end of the semester.
