A.C.E.S. - Honoring Sacred Times During Difficult Times

Catholics around the world (and here on campus) observe the Easter season just as our Muslim brothers and sisters have observed Ramadan, one of the holiest months in Islam. Catholics recently celebrated the Holy Triduum of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday, Muslims are celebrating the end of Ramadan, and the Jewish community will soon observe Passover. This year, these holy days have arrived amidst continued violence and war in the Middle East, making the observance of these sacred times and traditions a trying exercise. The Office of Alumni Relations and the talented faculty and staff of the Tuohy Center for Interreligious Understanding invite you to join us for an evening of reflection, courtesy of our talented Theology and Religious Studies Department faculty.

Arabic-Hebrew Calligraphy Exhibit and Workshop by Ruben Shimonov

Educator, community builder, and artist Ruben Shimonov will take us on a journey of his own multilingual calligraphy and how he has used his art to build Muslim-Jewish interfaith bridges. Participants will then have the opportunity to engage with these two languages through a hands-on calligraphy workshop. All necessary materials will be provided. No background in Arabic or Hebrew calligraphy is necessary.
