John Carroll University President Robert L. Niehoff, S.J., presented this year’s Commencement speaker, David W. Short, with the inaugural Loyola Presidential Medal today. The newly created award recognizes excellence in leadership, character, service, and significant contributions to the University. Mr. Short is a 1981 graduate of John Carroll University, has served on the JCU Board of Directors since 1999, and has been chair of the Board for the last six years. Father Niehoff commented, “Dave walks the walk and truly upholds the Jesuit ideals of John Carroll University. He is an example for others to become and remain committed to Carroll." The prestigious honor will be awarded periodically by the Board of Directors upon recommendation of the University president to an individual whose personal contributions truly represent the life of Ignatius of Loyola and the ideals of John Carroll University.
