John Carroll University's most iconic building is getting a new name.
The Administration Building, the focal point of campus since it opened in 1935, will now be called Saint Ignatius Hall, honoring Saint Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus. President Alan Miciak made the announcement on Friday as the community prepares to celebrate the end of the Ignatian Year with Mass and a picnic.
"The iconic building at the heart of our campus will forever stand as a reminder of our Ignatian heritage and a clarion call to our Jesuit mission," he said.
Throughout the year, a number of JCU offices have collaborated to bring programming to campus that illuminates the four universal apostolic preferences at the heart of the Ignatian Year: to show the way to God, to walk with the excluded, to accompany youth toward a hope-filled future, and to care for our common home.
The newly named Saint Ignatius Hall will be dedicated on September 8, 2022 in conjunction with the Mass of the Holy Spirit.
