Dear Members of the John Carroll University Community,
Although we are spread near and far during these challenging times, I am more convinced than ever that we are a resilient community of caring people. Together, we are united by the bonds of friendship and a shared sense of purpose, which is our Jesuit mission. I hope this message finds you safe and healthy.
This evening, the Jewish members of our community begin their week-long observance of Passover, during which they commemorate the journey from bondage to freedom. On Thursday evening, Christians will begin the celebration of the Easter Mysteries that mark the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. For all of us, these days of springtime encourage us to think about the renewal of the earth and our ongoing responsibility to take better care of it.
Like many of you, Jill and I will experience these days in a different way this year, unable to worship with our community of faith or be with all of our family. We will be comforted by the memory of past celebrations and the anticipation of being together once again. Please be assured of our prayers and best wishes for all of you, our John Carroll family. May you have a blessed Easter, a happy Passover, and a wonderful, restful weekend.
With warmest regards,
Michael D. Johnson, Ph.D.
