More than 800 talented freshmen began their John Carroll experience this week. For the second consecutive year, the University attracted its largest incoming class in a decade. The Class of 2018 hails from 327 high schools, 24 states, the District of Columbia, and 14 foreign countries. More than 300 students come from outside of Northeast Ohio. While 13 percent of the class identified as first generation (the first in their family to attend college), an impressive 29 percent of the class has an immediate or extended family member that attended John Carroll. Academically, the class boasts an average high school GPA of 3.51. Thirty-one percent of the class indicated an interest in pursuing science and technology at JCU, while 29 percent of the incoming students plan to major in business.
