Courtney Fallon ’16 is a recipient of this year’s WISE (Women in Sports and Events) Cleveland Scholarship. WISE is a leading resource for women in the business of sports and events. The WISE Cleveland Scholarship Program provides scholarships to women of Northeast Ohio who are graduating high school seniors or current college students with an intended course of study in sports management and/or events. Courtney is one of four women to receive a $1,500 scholarship. The announcement was made at the WISE annual luncheon in May at the House of Blues Cleveland. Fallon is enrolled in the Mike Cleary Program in Sports Leadership. She is pursuing a double major in business marketing (Boler School of Business) and sports administration (College of Arts and Sciences). She works in John Carroll’s sports information department, and for the Cleveland Indians Fan Services department. Fallon currently has an internship with Catholic Charities, focusing in Grants and Fundraising. The rising senior credits her John Carroll connections as being instrumental in developing her career goal to work in marketing or event operations in either collegiate athletics or professional sports. “My experience in the Mike Cleary Program in Sports Leadership has been great—I’m really enjoying the hands-on and project-based classes.” Fallon acknowledges Jane Evans, assistant athletic director for external operations, as an “incredible role model.” Evans attended the luncheon with Fallon. Fallon also serves as a tour guide for the Office of Admission, and still finds time to participate in the Boler Ambassadors Program, Chi Omega sorority, and Campus Ministry. She is president of the JCU Athletics student spirit club, the Carroll Crazies.
