Dan Reynolds, Chair of the Department of Education and associate professor of literacy education at John Carroll University, recently reflected on his journey from an Alliance for Catholic Education's (ACE) Teaching Fellow to an award-winning scholar in the education field.
Reynolds proudly recalled his first semester as a teacher in ACE, acknowledging both a rocky start and the pivotal role of ACE's support system, which helped him evolve into an educator passionate about literacy.
Reynolds earned the 2023 Michael Pressley Award for a Promising Scholar in Education through his commitment to adolescent literacy, particularly reading comprehension for diverse students. His research now focuses on bridging the opportunity gap in low-income schools, exploring reading interventions that address fluency, stamina, and comprehension.
