John Carroll University has appointed Edward J. Peck, Ph.D., as vice president for university mission and identity effective August 15, 2014. In this role, Peck will be responsible for promoting John Carroll’s Jesuit Catholic mission and identity in every facet of University life. Peck is the founding executive director of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities' Ignatian Colleagues Program, an 18-month formation program for faculty and administrators in Jesuit Higher Education. The program office is housed on the JCU campus. Prior to assuming the executive director role in June 2008, Peck served as associate dean of the graduate school and taught ethics in the Theology and Religious Studies Department and in the MBA and Nonprofit Administration programs. In addition to his involvement in local, regional, and national Jesuit mission and identity work, Peck is a spiritual director. He holds masters degrees in divinity and systematic theology from St. John’s Seminary, a Ph.D. in christian ethics from Loyola University Chicago, and a certificate in Ignatian spiritual direction from the Ignatian Spirituality Institute at John Carroll University.
