John Carroll University has appointed Edward J. Peck, Ph.D., as vice president for university mission and identity, effective August 15, 2014. He will be responsible for promoting John Carroll’s Jesuit Catholic mission and identity in every facet of University life. Peck most recently served as the founding executive director of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities’ Ignatian Colleagues Program, which is an 18-month formation program for faculty and administrators in Jesuit higher education. The program office is housed on the John Carroll campus. Prior to assuming this role in June 2008, Peck was associate dean of the graduate school at JCU. He also taught ethics in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies and in the MBA and nonprofit administration graduate programs. In addition to his involvement in local, regional, and national Jesuit mission and identity work, Peck is a spiritual director. He holds master’s degrees in divinity and systematic theology from St. John’s Seminary, a Ph.D. in Christian ethics from Loyola University Chicago, and a certificate in Ignatian spiritual direction from the Ignatian Spirituality Institute at JCU.
