Graduates of John Carroll University's Accountancy program rank #1 in Ohio, and #23 nationally, in 2016 CPA exam pass rates among those taking the test for the first time, representing institutions with 21 to 65 candidates. This category includes more than 300 institutions nationwide. According to the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) Report on the CPA Exam (2016 University Edition),  67.1% of the John Carroll first time candidates passed the exam, compared to the national average of 54.4%. John Carroll earned the #1 ranking in the state of Ohio for the overall pass rate for first time exam takers. Additionally, the University placed first in Ohio for both the Auditing and Attestation (AUD) and the Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR) sections -- for institutions with at least 10 candidates. "Our graduates consistently rank among the top in Ohio and often place nationally in CPA Exam pass rates," said Dr. Al Nagy, Chair of the Department of Accountancy for John Carroll University's Boler School of Business.  He added, "The continued success of our alumni in the accounting profession reflects the excellence of the JCU Accountancy program." Founded in 1908, the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) has served as an association dedicated to enhancing the effectiveness of the country’s 55 state boards of accountancy for more than 100 years.
