John Carroll University is among a select group colleges and universities to be named to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. The U.S. Department of Education and Corporation for National and Community Service recently announced the honored schools. John Carroll was recognized in the following categories:
  • General Community ServiceHonor Roll With Distinction
  • Education Community Service - Honor Roll With Distinction
  • Interfaith Community Service - Honor Roll
This is the seventh consecutive year that the University's Center for Service and Social Action has been recognized with this distinction based on its strong commitment to service—locally, nationally, and abroad. Approximately 2,000 JCU students performed more than 115,000 hours of community service during the 2013–14 academic year. The Corporation for National and Community Service is a federal agency that engages more than five million Americans in service through Senior Corps, AmeriCorps, the Social Innovation Fund, and other programs, and leads President Barack Obama’s national call to service initiative, United We Serve.
