U.S. News & World Report has once again recognized John Carroll University, naming us among the top 25 colleges and universities in the nation for service-learning programs. This marks the fourth consecutive year that JCU has made this list. How U.S. News explains the rankings: “In service-learning programs, volunteering in the community is an instructional strategy – and a requirement of a student's course work. The service relates to what happens in class, and in turn, the course work plays off of the volunteering. In spring 2013 we invited college presidents, chief academic officers, deans of students and deans of admissions from more than 1,500 schools to nominate up to 10 institutions with stellar examples of service learning. Colleges and universities that were mentioned most often are listed.” See the full list here. John Carroll is the only school in Ohio to be honored, and one of six Jesuit schools to make the list.
