Thursday, August 26 -Locations- 10 a.m.: 1602-1638 HOLYROOD ROAD, Cleveland Noon: FATIMA FAMILY CENTER, 6600 Lexington Avenue, Cleveland WHO: Nearly 150 John Carroll first-year students, along with current students, faculty, and staff members will serve as volunteers for the families associated with Fatima Family Center. WHAT: John Carroll University’s incoming freshman class will experience the importance community service as an integral part of their education in a special collaboration with Fatima Family Center. New JCU students will lend a helping hand to residents living in Cleveland’s Hough Neighborhood by providing some basic home improvement services, including yard work and painting. John Carroll’s Campus Ministry and Center for Service and Social Action developed the project to help students make a connection to the local community during their initial days on campus. Fatima Family Center, located in Cleveland’s Hough neighborhood, provides programs and services for all ages, including an early learning center, Head Start, cultural, leadership and development activities for children and youth, homework assistance, summer camp, field trips and recreational programs. Fatima also provides adult services, including parenting classes, computer lab, health screenings and food pantry.
