Kaleigh Wagner (2018) and Katie English(2018) are two amazing sociology students who went above and beyond this holiday season. This year the Arrupe students lead by student leaders-- Kaleigh Wagner, Katie English, Richie Jenkins, Megan Isherwood, and Caitlin Mathews-- served on the Food Drive and Footprints for Fatima Committees. In addition to the program's traditional work of hosting a 5k fundraiser and canvassing 4,200 homes in University Heights to solicit donations and inform residents about food insecurity, these students went the extra mile this year! Kaleigh Wagner and Katie English, nurtured a new university donor. After introducing themselves to Pollak Food Distributors in Cleveland they met with the owner in person. They left this meeting with a $1,000 cash donation and the promise to donate 10 cases of the drive's highest-cost food items(canned yams, pumpkin pie filling, etc). This donation allows for the students to provide 25 more families-- 150 families in total-- with a week's worth of groceries this Saturday! Kaleigh Wagner, Katie English, and others were honored by Cleveland's Mayor Frank Jackson, the Cuyahoga County Council, and the Fatima Family Center for their work on the annual food drive.
