He was awarded John Carroll’s Alumni Medal in 2010 and delivered the commencement address at JCU in 2013. He is also a member of the John Carroll University Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) Hall of Fame. John Carroll is the local Army ROTC headquarters for Cleveland colleges and universities.
