Institute of Catholic Studies-Breen Family Lecture Series presents “Women Religious in the United States Today” by Sr. Marlene Weisenbeck, FSPA Thursday, September 30, 2010 7:30 p.m. D.J. Lombardo Student Center/ LSC Conference Room This lecture is free and open to the public. WHO: Sr. Marlene Weisenbeck, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration of La Crosse, Wisconsin since 1962, has recently completed eight years as President of her religious institute. Prior to this, she served her community as an elected member of the General Council for eight years (1986-1994). Sister Marlene served the Diocese of La Crosse on its Marriage Tribunal and as Director of the Office of Consecrated Life (1991 – 2002). She is a past President of the National Conference of Vicars for Religious (NCVR). Currently Sister Marlene is serving on the presidency of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious as immediate past president (2009-2011), as a consultant in religious law to individuals and religious institutes, and as chairperson of the Catholic Health Association’s Sponsorship/Canon Law Committee. Sister Marlene holds the licentiate in canon law from Saint Paul University in Ottawa, (1991), the Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1989), and degrees in music from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University (1971) and Viterbo University (1967).
