Biography

Cory Gloeckner grew up east of Cincinnati but lived in Minneapolis and Duluth, MN for 11 years before coming to JCU. He is entering his first year as an Assistant Professor in the Physics Department at JCU. He also served as an instructor in neural engineering at the University of Minnesota for two years and was an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minnesota Duluth for three years. Cory’s expertise in a variety of engineering disciplines, as well as physics, supports his teaching in Engineering Physics at JCU which combines liberal arts, natural sciences, and a broad engineering curriculum. His neural engineering research in Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) targets the control of external devices using sensors that detect brain activity non-invasively, involving principles of neuroscience, electrical & biomedical engineering, and signal processing and control theory. He also carries out research in theology focusing on evidence-based theological approaches and ethics, with a crossover to science and engineering.
