Background

Dr. Sheldon is a CPA in Ohio and a Certified Information Systems Auditor. He is also a member of the American Accounting Association and ISACA. Prior to pursuing his doctorate, he worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in the Risk Assurance practice.

Research

Dr. Sheldon’s research interests include the impact of emerging technologies (e.g., blockchain) on the accounting and auditing professions, ESG reporting and its influence on decision making, and the monitoring of accounting professionals' conduct (i.e., the implementation of professional codes of conduct). His work has been published in a number of journals, including: The Accounting Review; Journal of Business Ethics; Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal; Journal of Information Systems; Journal of Accounting and Public Policy; Current Issues in Auditing; Journal of Emerging Technologies in Accounting; Issues in Accounting Education; The Accounting Educators’ Journal; and the Journal of Accountancy.

Additional Information

In pursuing his Ph.D., Dr. Sheldon was selected as an Accounting Doctoral Scholar (ADS), a program implemented by the AICPA Foundation to help fund and support those transitioning from public accounting to doctoral studies.
