Biography

Through my career, I have been interested in clinical assessment, behavioral neuroscience, and psychopathology. The overarching themes of my research are understanding, assessing, and treating individuals with ASD and other related forms of psychopathology. These broad interests were refined when I joined the professional staff of the Cleveland Clinic more than 14 years ago and developed a passion for understanding and treating individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) – hereafter autism or ASD. As Chief Science and Program Officer at Autism Speaks I gained a broader understanding of key next steps areas of basic, translational, and applied research, including perspective of research needs in the community (Frazier, Dawson, et al., 2018). At JCU, I am continuing to pursue my translational research focus, as well as basic psychological research focused on understanding and assessing developmental processes that contribute to psychopathology.
