Lecturer in Spanish

Biography

Yuliya Frid was born in Russia and immigrated to the United States at the age of eleven. She began to study Spanish in middle school and fell in love with the language and culture to such an extent that she continued her learning through high school and college, after which she obtained a Master's degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies. An avid traveler, she studied abroad in Costa Rica and has been to numerous Spanish-speaking countries both for pleasure and work. A teacher at heart (Yuliya also teaches ballroom dancing), she has taught language to kids and adults in private schools and institutions. Prior to coming to John Carroll, Yuliya worked as an interpreter and trainer for the international company Hyland Software, traveling to various Spanish-speaking countries and conducting business in the native language.

Yuliya is ecstatic to be teaching and sharing her passion for languages at John Carroll.
