Please note this form is for requesting release from the Office of Residence Life Housing Agreement for 2021-2022 or if you are Requesting a Release from a submitted Office of Residence Life Housing Agreement for 2022-2023.

The RISING SOPHOMORE process for "Changing to Commuter Status" HAS NOW CLOSED and forms were due March 25, 2022 at 5:00pm.

Submissions received after March 25, 2022 at 5:00pm will not be considered. All related paperwork including the 2022-2023 Commuter Confirmation Form must be submitted before March 25, 2022 at 5:00pm.

The housing agreement is legally binding, and you are expected to honor the terms of the agreement. This includes payment of the housing cancellation fee as outlined in the Office of Residence Life Housing Cancellation Policy for 2021-2022 or the Office of Residence Life Housing Cancellation Policy for 2022-2023. When reviewing this request, it will also be taken into consideration if the two-year residency requirement applies to your request.

There is not an appeal process, as all decisions are final.


1.) Complete this application and present the reasons for your request in an orderly, logical fashion. Provide specific information and include detailed information. Requests submitted without information provided will not be considered. Please make sure you have signed and dated the form, or it will not be reviewed.

2.) RISING SOPHOMORES ARE SUBJECT TO THE TWO YEAR RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR THE 2021-2022 and the 2022-2023 ACADEMIC YEAR. THE PROCESS TO "CHANGE TO COMMUTER STATUS IS NOW CLOSED. If you are submitting a Request for Release, you must also complete the 2022-2023 Commuter Confirmation Form and return it notarized to the Office of Residence Life.

THE "Change to Commuter Status" Process has now closed for the 2022-2023 academic year for Rising Sophomores and the due date was March 25, 2022 at 5:00pm. Any documentation received after this date will not be considered and you will be held to the two-year residency requirement.


4.) Any request related to or for medical reasons will be referred to Student Accessibility Services.

5.) Any request related to change in financial circumstance will require the review of your financial aid information and/or documentation of a significant financial change that was unknown or has taken place since you accepted the 2021-2022 Housing Agreement or the 2022-2023 Housing Agreement.

6.) Any request claiming you did not understand the agreement was binding will not be considered.

7.) You should consider any request as “denied” until you are notified it has been approved. Please consult the housing agreement for details regarding housing charges.

8.) Please note that you are not approved for release until you receive official written notification from the Office of Residence Life (this may be in the form of electronic correspondence.)
