Private Swim Lessons

Private swim lessons are a great way for your children to get comfortable in the water while having fun at the same time. If you are looking for your child to learn the basics, or want to develop your competitive stroke and technique, this program is right for you!

Packages
Private lessons are sold in packages of five 30-minute lessons. An introductory lesson is offered for an additional charge. An introductory lesson will include an introduction to the instructor and an analysis of the swimmer’s skills. Students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni members can purchase lessons at the member rate. Community members can purchase lessons at the non-member rate. You may opt to purchase a five-lesson package with or without an introductory session.

  • Introductory lesson: $15
  • Members: $75
  • Non-Members: $100

Dates & Times Available

  • Monday: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m; 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.; 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.; 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
  • Thursday: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.; 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
  • Friday: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m; 7:30 p.m. - 9 p.m.
  • Saturday: Noon - 4 p.m.
  • Sunday: Noon - 4 p.m.

Registration
Registration for Private Swim Lessons is available at the Recreation Desk in the JCU Recreation Complex. At registration, parents will indicate which swim level they think their child is based off of detailed explanation of levels.

Refunds
No refunds will be issued for cancellation by the participants. A full refund will be issued for a package cancelled by the Department of Recreation.

Group Swim Lessons

Group swim lessons are a great way for your children to get comfortable in the water while having fun at the same time. If you are looking for your child to learn the basics, or want to develop your competitive stroke and technique, this program is right for you!

Dates & Times:
Group swim lesson dates and times are pre-determined prior to each academic semester beginning. For more information, please contact the Director of Aquatics, Mark Fino (mfino@jcu.edu).

  • Pricing:
    Members: $50
  • Non-Members: $60

Policies & Procedures

Johnson Natatorium Policies & Procedures

  • Before entering, all patrons must identify themselves to the Recreation Desk with a current university ID or membership card.
  • The lifeguards are in charge at all times – what they say is final.
  • The use of emergency equipment and telephones is to be used only by the guards.
  • All children under 16 shall be accompanied by an adult.
  • Shower before entering.
  • No horseplay (running, tag, chicken fights, etc.).
  • No food or drink other than water.
  • No hanging on the lane lines.
  • No diving in shallow pool.
  • Patrons suspected to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol are not permitted to enter the pool.
  • No smoking.
  • Enter and exit by the main door.
  • One on the diving boards at a time. High dive is to be used by diving teams only.
  • Not responsible for lost articles.
  • Appropriate swimwear is required for all users of the pool. The lifeguards determine what is appropriate.
  • No person is permitted in the pool if the lifeguard feels the pool is unsafe.
  • No person is permitted in the pool if the lifeguard feels that the person is not capable or qualified to be there.
