My name is Raneem Altabbaa. I graduated from John Carroll University in January 2017.

I majored in Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry and Neuroscience. Now, I am a first-year medical student at Northeast Ohio Medical University.

Being a chemistry major was not easy, but the entire department was there to help and support us. All the professors truly cared about me and my success. Even the professors who did not teach me knew so much about me! I still remember the days I ran into my adviser's office in panic, most of the time without an appointment, and he still welcomed me and helped me in any way he can. I remember the pep talks I got from my professors every time I thought I was not going to make it. And everyone remembers the frustrating days in the chemistry labs. Yet it was those hard times that helped us grow.

The chemistry department provided many opportunities for research and outside connections that helped me reach where I am today. I am truly grateful for the support and guidance of the department. I would not have made it this far without them.
