WHO: Boys and Girls, ages 9-19 from all over the world will be in Greater Cleveland for the Continental Cup. WHAT: John Carroll University will host the opening ceremony on July 4, for teams participating in the second annual Greater Cleveland Sports Commission’s Continental Cup, presented by Kelme, an international youth soccer tournament. The spectacular Olympics-style opening ceremony at John Carroll’s Don Shula Stadium will include the following free activities: •Face-painting •Balloon artists •Performance by local singing sensation, Kate Voegele •Jumping Stilts acrobat, Jesus Villa Villa, who has performed with Cirque du Soleil will attempt a world-record stunt for the Guiness Book of World Records. During the four day competition, John Carroll will provide on-campus housing for approximately 350 youngsters from around the world. The 2007 Continental Cup will feature world-class competition between 120 youth soccer teams, proudly representing many countries, including the United States, Canada, Republic of Georgia, Barbados, Guatemala, Kenya and India. Several Greater Cleveland teams will also be part of the competition!
