WHO: Lecture: “Pastoral Reflections: The Impact of the University of Central America Today.” This lecture is presented by the Department of Sociology with the co-sponsorship of the Cleveland Commission on Catholic Action, Diocese of Cleveland and the Bridge Foundation, along with numerous departments and programs at John Carroll University. Segundo Montes, SJ, sociologist, and philosopher, was the director of the Institute for Human Rights at the University of Central America in San Salvador. He was one of six Jesuits who, along with two women, were murdered in San Salvador on November 16, 1989. WHO: Fr. Joseph Callahan Joe Callahan (’79) was a chemistry major at John Carroll who found a vocation to the priesthood after graduation. He joined the Cleveland Mission Team, which for more than 40 years has labored and suffered and loved in the impoverished, war-torn Central American nation. WHERE: D.J.
