WHAT: Lecture: The Mellen Series on Publicly Held Ohio Corporations invites chief executive officers to discuss the strategic focus of their companies and the challenges they face. WHO: Anthony J. Alexander, President and Chief Executive Officer of FirstEnergy Corp. Mr. Alexander is president and chief executive officer of FirstEnergy Corp. and serves on the company’s board of directors. He joined FirstEnergy’s predecessor company, Ohio Edison, in 1976, and served as an attorney and associate general counsel before he was elected vice president and general counsel of Ohio Edison in 1989. He was elected president and chief operating officer in 2001 and to his current position in January 2004. Mr. Alexander received his bachelor’s degree in accounting and law degree from The University of Akron, and completed the Program for Management Development at the Harvard Graduate School of Business. FirstEnergy is a diversified energy company headquartered in Akron, Ohio. Its subsidiaries and affiliates are involved in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. Its seven electric utility operating companies comprise the nation’s fifth largest investor-owned electric system, based on 4.5 million customers served within a 36,000-square-mile area of Ohio, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
