October 20 7 p.m. "Humane Borders and the Politics of Migration" Speaker: Reverend Robin Hoover D.J. Lombardo Student Center (LSC) Conference Room Reverend Robin Hoover is the founder of Humane Borders in Tucson, Arizona, a social welfare organization that provides assistance each year to thousands of illegal immigrants crossing into the U.S. His group maintains water stations in the desert in an effort to save the lives of undocumented migrants. The JCU Honors Program, Latin American and Latina/o Studies Concentration, and Program in Applied Ethics are sponsors of this program. October 21 7 p.m. The Honorable Louis Stokes discusses the 2008 U.S. Presidential Race Dolan Center for Science and Technology, Donahue Auditorium Former Ohio U.S. House Representative Louis Stokes will reflect this year’s historical presidential race. Stokes, a Cleveland native, is a politician, attorney, and civil rights champion. Stokes is the first African-American member of Congress from Ohio.
