WHO: Dr. Risa Sodi, Senior Lector II, is the Language Program director at Yale University WHAT: A lecture by Dr. Risa Sodi as part of the Bishop Pilla Lecture Series. The Jewish presence in Italy has been continuous and uninterrupted since the days of Judah Maccabee. Over the years and centuries, many vicissitudes have touched this resilient community. The Shoah came to Italy on September 16, 1943. What happened on this date? What became of the Italian Jews in the Holocaust? How was their experience (eloquently chronicled by Primo Levi and others) different from that of other European Jews? What is Jewish Italy like today? These and other questions will form the basis for Professor Risa Sodi’s lecture. WHERE: John Carroll University 20700 North Park Blvd. University Heights, OH D.J.
