WHO: Ed Gordon currently hosts Our World with Black Enterprise. He has served as anchor of BET News, contributing correspondent for the CBS Newsmagazine 60 Minutes, NBC’s Today Show and Dateline and host of NPR’s News and Notes with Ed Gordon.Gordon’s impressive portfolio includes interviews with nationally known public figures, including Oprah Winfrey and President Bill Clinton. The 1990 prison release of South African National Congress leader, Nelson Mandela, and the 2001 September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States are among the many defining world events he has covered. A Detroit native, Gordon earned a B.A. in Communications and Political Science from Western Michigan University. WHAT: John Carroll University’s Office of Multicultural Affairs invites the public to hear Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist Ed Gordon, known for his hard-hitting interviews with national newsmakers.In his lecture at John Carroll, Gordon will discuss his views on how race and gender will impact coverage of the U.S. presidential race. He will also discuss media coverage of minority communities and racial issues. This special presentation is part of the university’s 2007 Dr. Shirley Seaton Cultural Awareness Series.
