WHO: Cleveland Plain Dealer Book Editor Karen Long WHAT: A discussion centered on one of the most prolific popular religious writers of our era, Karen Armstrong, author of The Spiral Staircase. This lecture is part of John Carroll University’s Cardinal Suenens Center Spring 2008 Book Series. Armstrong writes of her struggles as a nun and the agonizing decision to leave behind the convent; her disorienting return to the world she left behind; her frustrations as a graduate student, and her eventual and totally unanticipated success as a writer and commentator on religion.
