WHAT: The 2008-2009 Dr. Shirley S. Seaton Cultural Awareness Series sponsored by John Carroll’s Office of Multicultural Affairs WHO: Joe Hernández-Kolski As a spoken word poet, Joe Hernández-Kolski recently performed on the sixth season of HBO’s “Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry.” He is an actor/writer committed to creating work that challenges audiences while making them laugh. Hernández-Kolski currently tours the United States with his lecture/performance “Refried Latino Pride.” His blend of comedy, social commentary, and personal stories attracts fans from all different backgrounds, earning positive responses throughout colleges and universities nationwide. Q-Nice “The Chief Rocka” A Cleveland native, Q-Nice is a member of "Chief Rocka" Entertainment. Students in major cities across the country know Q-Nice through the MTV "Rock the Vote" Tour and BET's "Rapcity: The Basement." Q-Nice is a regular contributor to the Young Audiences cultural education organization. He also presents a workshop for students and teachers on African American history, culture and cross-cultural communications.
