WHAT: The Mellen Series on Publicly Held Ohio Corporations is a lecture series that highlights chief executive officers to discuss the strategic focus of their companies and the challenges they face. WHO: Michael D. Siegal, Chief Executive Officer of Olympic Steel, Inc. Michael Siegal began his full-time employment with Olympic Steel in 1974. In 1984 he was elected president and he became chairman of the board and chief executive officer in 1994. He is on the boards of the Metal Service Center Institute, Cleveland Jewish Federation, The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), University Hospitals of Cleveland, and The Development Corporation for Israel, where he serves as the chairman of the board. Mr. Siegal is a 1974 graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, with a B.S. in Education. He graduated from the Wexner Heritage Foundation Leadership Course. Olympic Steel is a leading U.S. steel service center with over 54 years of experience. The company’s primary focus is on the processing, direct sale, and distribution of large volumes of carbon, coated carbon, and stainless flat-rolled sheet, coil, and plate steel products. It operates as an intermediary between steel producers and manufacturers that require processed steel for their operations.
