New Rector Appointed at John Carroll University Superior General Very Rev. Peter-Hans Kolvenbach, S.J., has appointed Rev. Gerald J. Sabo, S.J., to serve as Rector of the Jesuit Community at John Carroll University to succeed Rev. Howard J. Gray, S.J., on July 31, 2007. In addition to his role as the university’s rector, Father Sabo will continue to serve as professor of Eastern European languages. Sabo has been a member of the JCU faculty since 1981. Father Gray will continue in Jesuit higher education at Georgetown University as assistant to the president for special projects. John Carroll University Names Alumni Medal Recipients The Alumni Medal is the highest honor given annually by the JCU Alumni Association for an individual’s exemplary professional, personal or community accomplishments. Schubert ’62, ’67G, ’80G JCU Continues to Win Neuroscience Awards John Carroll University students once again successfully competed in the 61st Annual Eastern Colleges Science Conference (ECSC) held at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Bronx, New York, in April 2007. In nineteen of the past 20 years, John Carroll neuroscience students, under the guidance of Dr. Helen M. Murphy and Dr. Cyrilla H. Wideman, have earned first place awards for a research paper in biology, chemistry and psychology at the ECSC.
