WHAT: The 2007-2008 Dr. Shirley S. Seaton Cultural Awareness Series sponsored by John Carroll’s Office of Multicultural Affair WHO: Featured poets include: Katie Daley Daley has been raising a ruckus of goose bumps and exclamations on the performance poetry circuit across the US and Canada. She is a seasoned veteran of four National Poetry Slams, and in 2004, won third place in the World Competition of the Canadian Wordlympics in Ottawa. Along with performing, writing, publishing, ad producing, Daley teaches poetry writing in university classrooms, weeklong residencies in elementary and secondary schools, and at writers’ festivals and conferences. Nolana Nicole Price A.K..A. Liberty Over the past several years, Price has delivered a gifted word through her inspirational and uplifting poems for a variety of organizations, public schools, colleges and libraries. She has also participated in the Spoken Word for Life Tour, sponsored by LifeBanc, which aired on the the Radio One Network. Price has traveled throughout the United States doing competitive poetry slams and inspirational speaking. Q-Nice “The Chief Rocka” By Blending Hip-Hop, Poetry, and Soul, Q-Nice has harnessed his lyrical skills and musical flavor to produce and innovate art far more passionate and expressive than most contemporary music of today. Q-Nice is a founding member of “The Black Poetic Society” and was a member of the National Poetry Slam team that represented Cleveland against 35 cities and placed second among 130 poets.
