John Carroll University’s Mellen Series on Publicly Held Ohio Corporations presents Stephen D. Newlin Chairman, President, & CEO PolyOne Corporation Monday, April 18, 2011 5 p.m. D.J. Lombardo Student Center, LSC Conference Room This event is free and open to the public. WHAT: The Mellen Series on Publicly Held Ohio Corporations is a lecture series that highlights chief executive officers to discuss the strategic focus of their companies and the challenges they face. WHO: Stephen D. Newlin Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, PolyOne Corporation Stephen Newlin is chairman, president and chief executive officer of PolyOne Corporation, the world’s premier provider of specialty polymer materials, services and solutions. From 2003 to 2006, Mr. Newlin served as president, Industrial Sector of Ecolab, Inc. He served as president and director at Nalco Chemical Company from 1998 to 2001 and was president, chief operating officer and vice chairman from 2000 to 2001. His employment with Nalco spanned nearly 24 years, including positions as president of Nalco Europe and president of Nalco Pacific. Mr. Newlin earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology. He completed both the Tuck Executive Program at Dartmouth College and the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program. He serves on the boards of directors of Valspar Corporation (NYSE: VAL), Black Hills Corporation (NYSE: BKH), and Greater Cleveland Partnership. In the civic realm, he is a member of the Ohio Business Roundtable. In 2007, he received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology. The Triangle Fraternity recognized Mr. Newlin as a ‘Men of the Century,’ and also inducted him into their Wall of Fame.
