** Please note that all orientation sessions will be conducted online through the use of Zoom and JCU's Canvas Learning Management System. Instructions for accessing the various presentations during orientation will be emailed to all students during the week leading up to the orientation session for which the student registered.

Small Groups

This is your first chance for personal attention from our orientation staff. We will break into small groups during the day and you will be able to discuss anything that is on your mind concerning college. Not only will you be meeting other new students, but you’ll be getting acquainted with the University as well.

Academic Advising

Academic advising is an integral part of your education at JCU. We focus on creating an academic advising relationship that helps students to plan a strategy to complete their coursework in a timely manner while ensuring that they take advantage of all that JCU has to offer. Students will be assigned a summer orientation academic advisor according to their area of interest. This person will be a resource in scheduling classes and adjusting to academic life here at Carroll. Please contact the Office of the Assistant Provost for Academic Advising and Student Services to answer any of your questions at 216.397.4219.

Evening Activities

Our evening activities are a great way for you to connect further with our Orientation Leaders and continue meeting other new students, especially those who share similar interests with you.

Fall Course Registration

At the conclusion of orientation, students will have a schedule of their fall courses in hand. Now it’s official … you are a first-year student at JCU!
