Exempt Category 3: Benign Behavioral Interventions

Investigators in the social sciences often conduct research in which they collect behavioral data from adult participants through verbal or written responses. When these experiments are minimal-risk and non-invasive, they may qualify for a NEW exemption from the federal regulations if they meet the specific requirements of exempt category 3, benign behavioral interventions.
