Fall 2020 Alumni Bios
Megan Boyk '15 is a resident physician in family practice in South Bend, Indiana. During residency, she is focusing on care for the underserved and health services management. Additionally, she is currently working towards a Master's in Public Affairs with a concentration in Health Systems Administration and Policy in hopes of becoming more involved with leadership and advocacy in the medical field. As a student at John Carroll, aside from the Leadership Scholars Program, she was involved in the Honors Scholars Program, JCU-EMS, and choir. She also worked as a campus tour guide.
Ruthie DuBois ‘18 is currently a family and adolescent mental health therapist through Ravenwood Health's Geauga Youth Center in Chardon, OH. She works as a certified trauma practitioner with teenagers who have been placed in a residential treatment center. She received her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Substance Use Treatment at JCU in August 2020. Her experiences at JCU working with marginalized communities through the CSSA created a foundation for advocacy that continues to shape her work. While a student at JCU, she majored in Psychology with a concentration in Child and Family Studies.
Emily Furin '17 graduated in 2020 with her BSN from Ursuline College and accepted a position as a nurse on a trauma-surgical intensive care unit. Prior to entering the 15 month accelerated nursing program, she worked as a chief medical scribe in an emergency room and as a course instructor at Go Ape Zipline and Adventure Course. At John Carroll, she was the president of the a capella group Streaks in Key; a Carroll Faith Community leader; volunteered with Students Today, Leaders Forever; participated on an immersion to Guatemala with campus ministry; worked in the Neuroscience Research Lab and as a student office assistant in the Office of Student Engagement.
Marissa George ‘20 was recently accepted to Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine to begin medical school in the summer of 2021. She looks forward to continuing her education in Colorado to train in rural medicine and tribal healthcare. Until then, she continues to work at Southwest General Hospital in Emergency and Trauma and volunteer at the American Red Cross. While at JCU, she majored in Cell and Molecular Biology with a minor in Leadership Development. She held multiple leadership positions in Kappa Alpha Theta, Order of Omega, and the Honors Program. She was also a member of the Leadership Scholars Program and attended an immersion trip to Pine Ridge Native American Reservation, which sparked her interest in practicing medicine on a reservation.
Colleen Gong '15 earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and is working as an Associate Attorney at Faulkner, Garmhausen, Keister & Shenk in Sidney, Ohio. Her practice is concentrated on labor and employment law and corporate and commercial work. She advises businesses on a wide array of employment-related matters including wage and hour disputes, internal business policies and procedures, and compliance with state and federal law. While at John Carroll, she was a member of the Honors Program, worked as a Tour Guide, was actively involved in Campus Ministry and the Immersion Program, and studied History and Classics. She married Michael Gong ('15) in March 2020.
Jenny Grant ’17 is completing her Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Bowling Green State University, Ohio, where she is researching topics surrounding addiction, religion and spirituality, and trauma, as well as training to be a licensed psychologist. She also started and runs a prayer/spirituality group at BGSU and is a clinical student representative. While at JCU, she was a member of Psi Chi, Alpha Sigma Nu, the Psychology Club, Alpha Omega, and studied Psychology, with a minor in Theology.
Jacob Haas '19 is working as a Software Developer at Medical Mutual within the Enterprise Data Warehouse and RPA Architect teams. His position requires an understanding of both the healthcare system as well as the information systems behind it in order to provide company insights and to develop automated robotic processes. During his time at John Carroll, he majored in Computer Science and minored in Leadership Development, later returning to complete his MBA in 2020. As a student he was also a member of the stargazing club and the paranormal club.
Derek Naim ‘18 is working as the Director of Operations for Chagrinovations, LLC. Chagrinovations is a consumer products company headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. The main objective of this business is to create innovative patented products, and to sell them into mass retail and ecommerce platforms like Amazon. At JCU, Derek was a member of the Blue Streak Football Team, Member of the Sports Information Department, a Rec Desk Team Leader, while studying Finance in the Boler College of Business.
Noah Paulsen ’20 is currently working for the Lubrizol Corporation in the Cleveland area in their Advanced Materials division following a year and a half internship with the company. His work now has him working with customers from around the globe and analyzing vast amounts of data to better understand how to best serve customers. He has also continued working as a freelance graphic designer/photographer/videographer in his free time. While at John Carroll he was an International Business major with a minor in Spanish and was the President of the International Business Association, Photography Editor of the Carroll News, Chair of the Membership Development board of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, and a member of the Order of Omega Honors Fraternity.
Brandon Parr '16 graduated medical school this year from Campbell University in Lillington, North Carolina. This spring, he matched at the University of Chicago NorthShore, and is now continuing his training as an internal medicine resident in Chicago, Illinois. His wife and him, whom he met at JCU, just celebrated their second wedding anniversary in October of this year. While at JCU, Brandon served as President of the fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon, started a legacy project known as Shampoo for the Red, White, and Blue that still continues annually, and was involved in neuroscience research at the Cleveland Clinic that has led to publications.
Nick Reis ‘19 is working as a Client Solutions Executive for the 3rd Party Logistics Firm, Echo Global Logistics. On a daily basis, his position entails developing, maintaining and managing new client relationships in the Logistics Industry. He also drives new account growth via prospecting and sourcing. Nick currently works at Echo’s branch location in Nashville, TN. While at John Carroll, Nick was a member of the Football Program and studied Business Management along with Leadership Development.
is the Vice President of Operations and production manager at Ringer Screen Print/Wholesale Imprints in North Kingsville, Ohio, after majoring in education in college. While at JCU, he served as a Resident Assistant and as a SWAT Leader, and participated in several intramural sports each year.
Rachel Sammon '15 is working as a Chemist II at the Sherwin-Williams Company in Global Supply Chain Research and Development. Her position entails working on a division-wide waste management system, leading quality investigations involving production issues, and providing support for new product development. While at John Carroll, Rachel was a circulation desk assistant at the Grasselli Library and Breen Learning Center, was a co-op with the Sherwin-Williams Company, and studied Biochemistry.
Steven Schmitz '17, '18G started his career at PwC Public Sector in the Department of Defense (DoD) sector where he supported the United States Army in Business Process Improvement Initiatives. Today he is a management consultant at DayBlink Consulting located in Washington D.C. There he provides advisory services within the Financial Transformation and Ventures arms of the company to clients all over the world. Steven also volunteers at Wrestling to Beat the Streets DC, an organization dedicated to improving youth development and self-esteem while reducing juvenile crime through the sport of wrestling. While at John Carroll, he was involved as a Senior Resident Assistant, member of the wrestling team, member of the jazz band, and active in service-learning. He majored in accountancy and minored in leadership development. Later, he earned his Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A.) with a concentration in international business.
CLASS OF 2021 LEADERSHIP SCHOLARS
Delaney Burns is an Early Childhood Education major from Columbus, OH. Her love of children has led her to do service at elementary schools through the Center for Service and Social Action, where she serves on the student leadership team. Delaney is also the president of Dance Marathon at JCU and serves as a lector for mass.
Michael Butler is a Sociology/Criminal justice major from Valley City, OH. He currently works for Coca Cola as a Merchandiser and is also a freshman football coach for Padua Franciscan High School.
He was a varsity football player in high school for two years and was a captain his senior year. After graduation, Michael plan on becoming a Cleveland Police officer like his father
Kaley Capron is a Psychology major with a minor in Leadership Development from Cuyahoga Falls, OH. She is currently employed at Building Blocks Therapy, a center for children with Autism, working as a Registered Behavioral Technician. Kaley also works as a Senior Resident assistant on campus. After graduation, Kaley plans to become a Board-Certified Behavioral Analyst in order to impact those with Autism more deeply.
Isabella Carlozzi is a Biology major and Leadership Development minor from Chardon, OH. She is actively involved in the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority as the Chief Recruitment Officer, and also works in the Muldoon Center for Entrepreneurship as a peer mentor. Bella spent this past summer sewing hundreds of face masks for the community, taking summer classes for nursing school, and taking advantage of staying home and spending quality time with her family. After graduation she plans on pursuing a career as a pediatric nurse practitioner.
Joe Clark is an aspiring public speaker, studying both English and AYA Education at John Carroll, while also pursuing a minor in Leadership Development. On campus, Joe serves as a member of the Institutional Assessment Committee, a Eucharistic minister and lector at Masses, a resident assistant, and plans to write for the Carroll News during the 2020-2021 academic year. In the future, he desires to speak and share his message with others - if you want to be happier, live more gratefully.
Charlie Cook is an Accountancy major and Leadership Development minor from East Aurora, NY. Outside of the classroom, Charlie is a member of the Accounting Association and Investment Club. Upon graduation from JCU, he will start his career at PwC in their assurance practice and continue to pursue his CPA.
Kara Daggett is an Early Childhood Education major and Spanish and Hispanic Studies double major. She is involved in Greek Life, the Center for Service and Social Action, and recently returned from a trip abroad to Sevilla, Spain. She is looking forward to starting her senior year as a student teacher at Buhrer Dual Language Academy where she will be working with 1st grade.
Reade DeRosa is a senior accounting major from Pittsburgh, PA. Following graduation, Reade plans to complete an MBA at John Carroll and begin working with Cohen & Company in Cleveland.
Sara Domino is a Psychology major with a minor in Exercise Science from Mentor, OH. She is involved in Club Volleyball, Cru, Weekly Service, and holds a job at Building Blocks Therapy, a center that provides therapy for children with autism. After graduation, Sara will pursue a career in Speech and Language Pathology.
Megan Dugan is an Accounting major with a minor in Entrepreneurship from Erie, PA. She has just completed an internship in public accounting and is looking forward to starting a career in tax accounting. Throughout her time at JCU, she has enjoyed studying abroad in Dublin, volunteering with RallyCap Sports, and organizing events for Student Alumni Association.
Connor Fenton is a Finance and Economics double major with a minor in Leadership Development from Pittsburgh, PA. He is a member of Delta Tau Delta and currently serves as the president of the Interfraternal Council. After graduating he plans to further his education by earning his MBA.
Adam Haas is a Management major and Leadership Development minor from Chagrin Falls, OH. Adam plays varsity soccer at JCU and is also involved in the Investment Club and Inspired Business
Initiative Student Advisory Board. Adam has been a Project Management intern for
Sensical Inc. in Solon Ohio from May 2016-Present.
Ayoub Harb is a Cell and Molecular Biology major with minors in Chemistry and Leadership Development from Parma, OH. Ayoub serves as the President of the Middle Eastern Student Association, the Treasurer of the Pre-Medicine Society, and serves on the Academic Affairs Committee in Student Government. Ayoub was also an Orientation Leader and conducts research in the Biology Department. Following graduation, Ayoub plans to attend medical school to become a neurologist.
Elizabeth Hughes is double majoring in Marketing and Supply Chain Management with minors in Leadership Development and Italian Studies from Orchard Park, NY. She has been involved with Alpha Kappa Psi, intramurals, club basketball, as while as spending a semester studying abroad in Rome, Italy.
Jared Ianiro is a Business Management and Human Resources major and Leadership Development minor from Kirtland, OH. He is on the JCU Soccer team and studied abroad in London. Jared has been a human resources intern at Sherwin-WIlliams and after graduation, Jared plans to pursue a career in human resources.
Morgan Jochum is a Communication major on the Integrated Marketing track with minors in Leadership Development and Entrepreneurship. On campus Morgan serves as the Chi Omega Career and Personal Development Chair, founder of Blue Streaks on the Run, and the VP of Student Alumni Association. She is also one of the Tim Russert Department of Communication Marketing and Branding interns. In June 2020, Morgan launched her small business Positively Stitched LTD, spreading joy and positivity through her handmade accessories.
Alexa Lowe is Biology major from Pittsburgh, PA. She plans on joining JCU EMS and is the Vice President of the JCU Dance Ensemble. After her time at John Carroll, Alexa plans to attend Physician’s Assistant school in hopes of working in pediatric oncology.
Morgan Lupica is from Cleveland, Ohio. She is majoring in Accountancy with a minor in Leadership Development. She has been figuring skating since she was young and shares her love of skating by teaching children how to skate. During her years at John Carroll, she joined the Accounting Association and participated in service opportunities, such as preparing tax returns for low to moderate income individuals. Morgan was chosen to tutor Accounting students and interned at Protiviti and has accepted a full time position with this organization after graduation.
Haylee Mathews is majoring in Human Resources and Management, with a minor in Leadership Development from Cortland, OH. At JCU she is the president of the Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity as well as participating in many volunteer activities, such as philanthropy events, Through the Eyes of a Child, and raising money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Haley currently works for Sherwin Williams in the Human Resource department as an intern.
Chase Mieras is a Computer Science major, with minors in History, and Japanese from Lorain, OH. He is the current Vice President of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, the Vice President of the Gaming Club, and the President of Order of Omega. Chase is optimistic for his last year at JCU and is looking forward to returning as an intern in the Cleveland Clinic Radiology Department in the spring.
Andrew Miner is a Finance and Economics major from Eldersburg, MD. Andrew would like to use his degree to go into economic advising in the healthcare field one day and use his leadership skills to help come to agreements between different parties. In addition to academics, Andrew also runs cross-country and track at John Carroll.
Gabriella Morton is a Political Science major with a concentration in Spatial Data Analysis, with minors in Leadership Development and Statistics & Analytics from Pittsburgh, PA. On campus, Gabriella is the Vice President of Judicial Affairs for the JCU Student Government, a member of the University Hearing Board, a Blue Streak Ambassador, and a SWAT Leader. After graduation, Gabriella will be joining KeyBank as a Licensed Personal Banker.
John Moynihan is a Biology major and Leadership Development minor from Cleveland, OH. John is the President of the JCU Club Volleyball team, treasurer of the Health Awareness Project, and member of the Labre program. John is also a lead dancer with the Lucina Slovak ethnic dance ensemble and member of many fraternal organizations. John plans on attending medical school after graduation with the intentions of becoming a family pediatrician.
Mary Nofsinger is a Biology major and Chemistry minor from Pittsburgh, PA. She is the current Scholarship Director for Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She is a member of the LECOM Early Acceptance Program and is thrilled to be joining their ranks of talented medical students come fall of 2021.
Evan Norris is a Finance major with minors in Entrepreneurship and Leadership Development from Canton, OH. On campus, he is the vice president of finance for the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and studied abroad in London. After graduation, Evan plans to pursue his MBA and obtain a job in corporate finance.
Joey Parker is a Marketing and Supply Chain Management major with a minor in Entrepreneurship from Chautauqua, NY. He was an Orientation Leader, studied abroad in Dublin, loves intramural football and soccer, and is passionate about traveling the world and trying new foods. Joey is also an active member in Alpha Kappa Psi, John Carroll’s business fraternity.
Rushil Rana is from Tiffin, OH but recently moved to Las Vegas, NV! He is a Marketing major with a double minor in Entrepreneurship and Leadership Development. In school, he spends his time volunteering and being an active member in his fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi. Rushil is working as a Leasing Agent for The Coral Company and plans on getting his MBA prior to starting his career in real estate.
Alexander Reyes is an Economics major and a Leadership Development minor from Maumee, OH. After graduation, Alex is working towards going to dental school, hoping to specialize in either orthodontics or prosthodontics. On campus, Alex is a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity, currently serving as president of the chapter. He is also in the JCU Honors Program a campus Tour Guide.
Landon Rhoads is a Communications major and Leadership Development minor from Yellow Springs, OH. He has called the broadcasts of the JCU hockey team as the team’s play-by-play broadcaster each season since his freshman year. Landon avidly follows statistics across several different sporting leagues, and also has experience making movies, documentaries, and television programs. He hopes to combine these interests to land a job in sports broadcasting or sports analytics out of college. Landon also enjoys producing music in his free time.
Isabelle Rizzo is an Accounting major with minors in Catholic Studies, Leadership Development, and Italian Studies from Cuyahoga Falls, OH. She serves as the president of the all-female a Capella choir at JCU called “The Sweet Carrollines.” Isabelle is incredibly involved in her Catholic faith and has attended the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. to put her faith into action. She also studied abroad in Italy through JCU’s Bishop Pilla Program and served as a tax intern for PwC in Cleveland, Ohio.
AJ Rowe is a Communication major and Leadership Development minor from Detroit, MI. He currently serves as president of John Carroll Television, or JCTV, and the Financial Officer of LGBTQIA+ Allies, with a passion for cooking, videography, and writing. AJ plans to use his degree to start a career in wedding and event videography.
Maria Sagi is a Management and Human Resources major from Independence, OH. She is a supervisor at the JCU Call Center and enjoys working with children. After she graduates, Maria plans on pursuing her MBA and going into a data analytics role within the HR field and hopefully write a book.
Rachael Sanford is a Biology major with a double minor in Leadership Development and Chemistry from Erie, PA. On campus, she is a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and the Pre-Medicine organization. Off campus, she volunteers weekly at the HIV clinic as an HIV Intervention Specialist and conducts medical research. Rachael will be attending the Lake Erie College of Medicine next year with hopes to pursue an interest in shoulder replacements.
Hope Scherger is a biochemistry major from Round Rock, TX. At JCU, Hope is a member of the Honors Program, serving as an honors mentor, and is a member of the varsity swim team. She was also an orientation leader and is a member of the Kappa Gamma sorority.
Gabrielle Sergi is a Communication Major with a track in Integrated Marketing with a Leadership Development minor from Erie, PA. Gabi is passionate about climate justice and has been the Vice President of Marketing of the Environmental Issues Group for 2 years. She also participated in the Immersion program to the US-Mexico Border and the Boler College of Business partnership with Hope for Honduran Children mission trip, where she got hands on experience with the injustices people face.
Tori Vale is an Exercise Science major and a Psychology minor from Denver, CO. She is a current member of the John Carroll Swim and Dive team. After graduation, she plans to attend graduate school to pursue her dream of becoming an Occupational Therapist.
Alliha Valentine is a double major in General Psychology and Italian Studies and double minor in Leadership Development and Gender/ Sexuality/Women’s Studies. This year on campus, she will be a Peer Health Advocate, a Peer Mentor, and an advisor for the new student-led organization, Student Violence Prevention Advocates. Upon graduating from John Carroll, Alliha hopes to go on to graduate school to get her master’s in counseling psychology.
CLASS OF 2022 LEADERSHIP SCHOLARS
Nour Altabbaa is a biology major from Westlake, OH. During her time at John Carroll University, Nour served as the public relations chair for Muslim Student Society and also joined Pre-Dental Society, Women in Stem, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Alpha Sigma Nu. Outside of school, she enjoys volunteering as a dental aid, teaching children Arabic, and helping out at Circle Health Services. After graduation, Nour hopes to attend dental school.
Katherine Arnold is a junior Finance and Financial Planning and Wealth Management double major with a minor in Leadership Development. On campus she is a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity and also studied abroad in London.
Zachary Barther is an Exercise Science major with a minor in Leadership Development who plans on pursuing a career in chiropractic medicine and holistic wellness after graduation. He is a position leader on the John Carroll University football team. Zach volunteers at the Adapted Football League and is a member of the SAS jiu jitsu team, the JCU Exercise Science Club, and the Boler Business Leadership Society.
Carlo Bertoni is a Supply Chain Management and Marketing major from Pittsburgh, PA. He is a member of the JCU Hockey team and during the summer, he coaches young kids on how to skate and play hockey.
Zachary Braun is an Accountancy major from Orchard Park, NY. Zach also serves as a manager for the John Carroll’s men’s lacrosse team after playing on the team for his first two years on campus. Every summer Zach volunteers for the local KIA March honoring the fallen veterans of Western New York. After graduating he plans on pursuing a career at one of the Big 4 public accounting firms.
Cassandra Calamunci is a Marketing major and Leadership Development minor from Sylvania, OH. She is on the JCU Volleyball team and serves as one of the team’s captains. Cassi enjoys volunteering around campus and participating in various leadership events.
Elsie Connell is a Political Science and History double major with a Leadership Development minor from Oak Park, IL. She is a member of the JCU Swim team and works in JCU’s Sports Information Department. Elsie spent the summer as a legal intern for Harrison Law LLC in Chicago, IL.
Madi Daube is a Marketing and Supply Chain Management major and a Leadership Development minor from Granville, OH. Madi is a campus tour guide, works as a student caller in the Office of Admissions, and serves on the Student Union Hearing Board.
Mary DiDonato is from Pittsburgh, PA and is majoring in Psychology with a concentration in Forensics with a minor in Leadership Development. Mary plans to pursue a career in law and is continuing to take steps towards law school.
Brady Fields is a Finance major and Entrepreneurship minor from Lake Geneva, WI. Brady is on the varsity baseball team, President of the Boler Business Leadership Society, serves as a tour guide, and also participated in the El Salvador immersion trip. Brady spent his last two summers in Chicago, IL as a legal intern for the Tully & Associates law firm.
Zach Gerber is a Finance & Wealth Management major with Leadership Development minor from Aurora, OH. Outside of the classroom Zach is President of Boler Business Leadership Society, a member of the Finance Association, and runs varsity track.
Bobby Goff is an AYA Education and English double major from Lyndhurst, OH. He currently works as an intramural sports referee at John Carroll and also participates in intramural sports as an athlete. Bobby is an avid Cleveland sports fan and hopes to become an English teacher and then pursue a career as a principal.
Savannah Grandovic is an English Literature major with a minor in Chemistry on a pre-medical track from Pittsburgh, PA. Savannah founded the student organization Savvy Headbands whose mission is to partner with local hospitals and donate hand-knit headbands to women, men, and children with cancer. Savannah is also the president of Chi Omega and a member of both the Pre-health Club and American Chemical Society. Savannah serves as a teaching assistant for the general chemistry lab and also conducts research with Dr. Nichols in the chemistry department on CBD and hemp oil. After graduation, she plans to attend medical school to become a forensic pathologist.
Reilly Haas is a Sports Administration major with minors in Business and Leadership Development from Cincinnati, OH. Reilly is a part of the Student Leadership Team for CSSA, a part of a Carroll Faith community, and participates in intermural sports. She works for the athletic department and enjoys running in her free time. After graduation, Reilly plans on working in the sports industry and coaching youth sports.
Jared Hinton is a Biology major with minors in both Business and Leadership Development from North Ridgeville, OH. On campus, Jared has served as a Training Captain for JCU EMS, President of the Pre-Physician Assistant Club, and Volunteer Coordinator for RallyCap Sports. With a passion for medicine, Jared plans on either attending medical school or pursuing a Master’s in Anesthesia after graduation.
Spencer Hood is a Finance major and Leadership Development minor from Sylvania, OH. Spencer is currently the Chief Financial Officer for the Investment Club and also works as a caddy and an outdoor staff member at Shaker Heights Country Club.
Miranda Keck is a junior from North Jackson, OH and is majoring in Supply Chain Management with a minor in Leadership Development She has a love for the culinary world and currently holds a part-time job as a chef at a restaurant in Cleveland.
Kaeleigh Kirkwood is a Philosophy major with minors in Population and Public Health, Political Science, and Leadership Development from Buffalo, NY. On campus, Kaeleigh serves as president and founder of the Self-Care Club while working on campus as a Peer Health Advocate and Leadership Coach. After graduation, Kaeleigh plans to use her leadership skills in the field of health care policy.
Jasmine McCallum is a Psychology major with minors in Leadership Development and Statistics from Webster, NY. She is member of the Psychology club and is on the committee for Sisterhood of the Traveling Scarf. Jasmine has completed an internship at the ADHD Center of the Cleveland Clinic, served as an Orientation Leader, works at the JCU Mail Center, serves as a Teacher’s Assistant, and is also a Peer Health Advocate. Following graduation, Jasmine plans on getting a PhD in Clinical Psychology, focusing on children and adolescents.
Jasmine Milton is a Psychology major with minors in Communication and Leadership Development from Garfield Heights, OH. Jasmine is participating in an internship at the ADHD Center of the Cleveland Clinic and serves as a peer mentor in the MELT program on campus. Jasmine also works part time as a lifeguard and swim instructor at the local YMCA.
Benjamin Nist is a double major in Accountancy and Finance with a minor in Leadership Development form North Canton, OH. He is a member of the Student Workforce, participates in intramural sports, serves as a Boler Ambassador, volunteers for Labre, and serves as a Eucharistic Minister. Ben is looking forward to his internship with KPMG this year.
Holly Rozanski is a Marketing major with minors in Leadership Development and Italian Studies from Buffalo, NY. On campus, she is a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity, and the Boler Business Leadership Society.
Sarah Sahlani is an Accountancy major from Willoughby Hills, OH. She is a member of the JCU Women’s Soccer team, is on the executive board for the Boler Business Leadership Society, and volunteers at the Cleveland Clinic.
Jonathan Sandstrom is a Psychology major with a concentration in Child/Family Studies and a minor in Leadership Development from Jamestown, NY. At JCU, Jon is the Treasurer of Alpha Sigma Nu and is involved in research through the JCU Psychology Department. He hopes to eventually become a Clinical Child Psychologist.
Garrett Siegel is a Finance major and Leadership Development minor from Ipswich, MA. He is on the varsity baseball team, works for the Sports Information Department, and does service with Youthability at a local high school.
Trey Smith is an Accounting major with a minor in Leadership Development from Cincinnati, OH. He is a member of the JCU baseball team, a member of the Finance Association, and has participated in numerous service activities throughout college including the Walk to Defeat ALS.
Hannah Wells is an Exercise major from Lyndhurst, OH. She is a member of the Exercise Science Club and plans to participate in an immersion trip at JCU. Hannah also works off-campus as a lifeguard as well as a server at nearby Geraci’s restaurant. After graduation, she plans on pursuing a career in the medical field either as a nurse practitioner or physician's assistant.

Joe Backus is a Data Science major and Leadership Development minor from Olmsted Falls, OH. He is a member of the cross country team and indoor and outdoor track teams. Joe also does service at the Cleveland Food Bank. After graduation, he plans to work professionally in the Data Science field in the Cleveland area.
Gracie Bressoud is an Exercise Science major and Leadership Development minor from Columbus, OH. She is a member of the JCU softball team and has an on-campus job with sports equipment and events. At home, Gracie works at a local restaurant with plans to land a professional internship this coming year.
Colson Brown is a Marketing major and Leadership Development minor from Medina, OH. He plays on the JCU soccer team and works as a landscaper for Grace Brothers Nursery and Supply.
Drezdan Dale is a Finance Major with minors in Leadership Development and Data Analytics and Statistics from Peru, IL. He is involved in Investment Club and works for JCU’s Sports Information Department. Drezdan also volunteers at a local grade school as well as a Challenger League Baseball program. He is looking to work on the financial side of the sports industry after graduation.
Miranda Day is sophomore majoring in Early Childhood Education and minoring in Psychology and Leadership Development. She is a Carroll Faith Community leader and a member of Students Demand Action and Savvy Headbands. Outside of academics she enjoys playing piano, saxophone, and clarinet in and outside of the JCU Wind Ensemble.
Mary Evankovich is an Early Childhood Education major and Leadership Development minor from Pittsburgh, PA. She is currently the Chief Operating Officer for her sorority Kappa Alpha Theta and the Internal Director for Dance Marathon. Mary holds a work-study position, is a SUPB team member, and sings in the church choir.
Tanner Gill-Snow is a Biology and Education major and Leadership Development minor from Whitehouse, OH. He is on the JCU Lacrosse team and loves to compete as a Blue Streak.
Rachel Halapchuk is a Psychology major with a Leadership Development minor from Cheswick, PA. She is a member of the JCU Swim team and both interned and did service with Beverly’s Birthdays, a nonprofit organization based out of Pittsburgh that celebrates birthdays with children experiencing homelessness and families in need, working alongside the founder of the organization.

Alara Koprulu is a Communications Marketing major with a Leadership Development minor from Rocky River, OH. On campus, she is a member of the JCU Wind and volunteers with Boys Hope/Girls Hope. Alara loves to travel and meet new people and has hopes to study abroad in London while at JCU.
Emma Kosicek is a Communication Advocacy major with minors in Political Science and Leadership Development from Ashtabula, OH. On campus, she is on the executive board of the Student Union Programming Board’s, a Student Liaison for the Center for Service and Social Action, and a member of Chi Omega. Emma recently served as a Social Media Marketing intern for the Ashtabula County Visitors Bureau.
Megan Lane is a Marketing major with a minor in Leadership Development from Cleveland, OH. She is on the executive board of the Student Union Programming Board, served as an Orientation Leader, and as a Resident Assistant.
Nora McKee is a Communications Digital Media major with minors in Creative Writing, Peace, Justice, and Human Rights, and Leadership Development from Gibsonia, PA. She serves as a tour guide, an orientation leader, and a desk attendant for the Recreation Department. Nora sings at mass on Sundays and is on the executive board for the Student Union Programming Board while also participating in weekly service with the Writers in Residence program.
Colin Melligan is a Business major with a minor in Leadership Development from Lancaster, NY. He participates in service opportunities on campus and also works a part-time job. After graduation, Colin plans on pursuing a career in law.
Adam Okuley is a Sports Studies major with minors in Business, Spanish, and Leadership Development from Sylvania, OH. He is an Orientation Leader, participates in weekly service, is on the Club Sailing team, works for the Recreation department, and is involved with Campus Ministry. Adam is hoping to be able to take part in the immersion and study abroad programs at John Carroll.
Caylin Perryman is a Criminology and Psychology major with a Leadership Development minor from Honeoye Falls, NY. Caylin is on the JCU Lacrosse team and looks forward to getting involved with clubs and service during her time on campus.

Katy Zoller is a Political Science and Spanish major and a Leadership Minor from Fairview Park, OH. She is the founder of Students Demand Action at JCU, a bipartisan student organization focused on gun violence prevention. Katy volunteers with the Ohio Virtual Field Office to register voters and works as a peer mentor with the Center for Diversity and Inclusion. Outside of JCU, she is developing a small business that will be the catalyst that transforms students into political activists.

Sophia Alberico is a Biology major with minors in Leadership Development and Population and Public Health from Erie, PA. In high school, she was a member of the National Honors Society and served as the senior class president, Critical Concerns Club vice president, and a student ambassador for the school. Sophia also spent her time volunteering with the Mercy Center for Women and working at the Milcreek Community Hospital. She hopes to continue to volunteer at John Carroll as well as get involved in various clubs on campus.
Caitie Berndtson is a Cell and Molecular Biology major and Leadership development minor from Buffalo, NY. Throughout high school she played competitive travel ice hockey and co-captained her high school varsity tennis team. From freshman to senior year of high school, Caitie volunteered up to six hours a week throughout winter and spring coaching beginner players in hockey. She plans to go into the healthcare field and is looking forward to many community service opportunities at JCU.
Michael Bevington is a Finance major and Leadership Development minor from Cincinnati, OH. Michael will be a member of the JCU Lacrosse team in the spring. In high school, he was a part of the student council, the school newspaper, yearbook, the canned food drive and big buddies. Michael also enjoyed volunteer work through big buddies, meals on wheels, the canned food drive, and a local baseball team. He is looking forward to getting involved on campus through different organizations.
Abby Birch is a Political Science major and leadership Development minor from Pittsburgh, PA. In high school, she was Captain of the Varsity Softball team and participated in Key Club. Outside of school, Abby worked at Chick-fil-a, played in a community softball league, and volunteered for her parish. She looks forward to taking part in Campus Ministry, the study abroad program, and joining several clubs around campus.
Zach Brinks is an Undecided major with a Leadership Development minor from Cincinnati, OH. In high school, Zach enjoyed volunteering, especially at St. Joseph’s Home playing games with the residents and tutoring local grade school kids. He also was a part of several clubs and competed on the golf team at St. Xavier and was a Senior captain. Zach will be a member of the JCU golf team and hopes to be involved in Campus Ministry and take part in an immersion trip.
Claire Colbaugh is a Business major and Leadership Development minor from Grosse Ile, MI. In high school she played 4 years of varsity tennis and she will be continuing her tennis career at JCU. Claire was also a part of National Honors Society and her school’s DECA chapter and loves helping children and volunteered at youth summer camps and tennis lessons. After hosting two exchange students, Claire had the opportunity to visit them in Spain during Spring break of her junior year. She hopes to study abroad and continue her involvement in service and immersion on campus.
Danielle Deryck is a Biology major with a Leadership Development minor from Massillon, OH. In high school, she participated in Student Council, National Honors Society, Spanish Honors Society, and Key Club. Danielle works at a learning academy for preschool education and math, and she has been doing community service for the past two years with plans of continuing her service at John Carroll.
Jennifer Follmer is a Business major with a Leadership Development minor from Cleveland, OH. While in high school, she was the president for the Students Against Destructive Decisions Club (SADD) and an active member on the executive board of ambassadors. Jennifer was a part of the volleyball team all four years and looks forward to pursuing her career at the collegiate level. She plans on getting involved in many clubs and service opportunities with hopes to study abroad and create new friendships.
Flora Frieden is an undecided major with an interest in Political Science and a Leadership Development minor from Chardon, OH. Throughout high school she was part of the volleyball team and was captain her senior year, participated in Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Freshman Mentoring Program, and was head of her school’s yearbook committee. Outside of school Flora played club volleyball for many years. She has also been a coach at Eastside Volleyball Club and over the summer helped run a volleyball skills camp for younger girls.
Anna Glass is a Business major with a Leadership Development minor from Needham, MA. While in high school, she loved participating in her club and school’s swim teams. Anna was the captain of her school’s swim team and the founder of the Friendship Bracelet Club. She is a member of the JCU Swim and Dive team and is looking forward to new opportunities.
Leah Harrigan is an undecided major with a Leadership Development minor from Orchard Park, NY. In high school, she was a member of the Varsity soccer, basketball and lacrosse teams, where she served as captain of the basketball team. Leah also participated in clubs and organizations including, National Honors Society, Spanish National Honors Society, Varsity Club, Donate Life Club and the Academy of Finance. She has been on a mission trip to Boston, MA, where her church was involved in multiple service projects throughout the city. Also, through church and athletic teams, Leah has spent time volunteering at nursing homes, city missions and group homes. In the summer, she enjoys coaching at soccer camps, working at her local sports complex and spending time outside. Leah is excited to be involved in intramural sports and to seek out service opportunities at JCU.
Aeneas Hines is a Communications major with a minor in Leadership Development from Chicago, IL. In high school, he was a three-sport varsity athlete in soccer, bowling, and tennis, as well as captain of the bowling and tennis team. Aeneas served as a classroom aide and mentor to middle school students at the Chicago Jesuit Academy in the summer of 2019. This past summer, he worked as a tennis coach and instructor for Western Springs Tennis. Aeneas plans on getting involved in intramural sports and joining various clubs and activities at JCU.
Madelyn Laird is an Early Childhood Education major and Leadership Development minor from Pittsburgh, PA. In high school, she was captain of the varsity soccer team, Vice President of National Honor Society, and was a Campus Ministry LIFE and Kairos Retreat leader. Outside of the classroom, Maddie enjoyed actively participating in her youth group and doing community service such as Miracle League and being a Special Needs CCD teacher. While at John Carroll, she hopes to be an active member of Campus Ministry and become involved with many service opportunities.
Lexi MacDonald is a double major in Biology and Spanish and Hispanic Studies with a minor in Leadership Development from Clarence, NY. In high school, she was a 3-season athlete on the volleyball, basketball and lacrosse teams. Lexi served as captain on the volleyball and basketball teams and was recognized as an All-Western New York Scholar-Athlete. She was also a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council and Leadership Academy. Outside of school, Lexi was involved in the community including running winter outerwear drives helping those less fortunate in the Western NY area. At JCU, she is looking forward to playing on the volleyball team and continuing her community service.
Max Malley is a Political Science and Peace Justice Human Rights major and Leadership Development Minor from Westlake, OH. In high school, he was on the policy debate team for two years, was a Welsh Academy Big Brother in the inaugural year of the school and was active within Campus Ministry. At John Carroll, Max hopes to become involved with Student Government, Campus Ministry and various service opportunities that are offered. Above all, he is looking forward to meeting new people on campus and becoming involved with the day to day activities in any way possible.
Sarah McAllister is a Communications major focusing in Integrated Marketing with minors in Entrepreneurship and Leadership Development from Pittsburgh, PA . In high school, she was involved in clubs such as Peer to Peer where she mentored younger students and helped plan school events and fundraisers. Sarah was a part of the girls’ soccer team and is a two-time WPIAL and State Champion. Outside of school, she volunteered at her local church where she was a bible camp counselor in the summers. This past summer Sarah worked part-time as an aid at a physical therapy practice.
Sierra McCarroll is a Sociology and Criminology major with a minor in Leadership Development from Euclid, OH. In high school, she participated in the orchestra program. Sierra was also involved in many volunteer activities and events that helped those less fortunate. This past summer she worked with the Euclid Animal Shelter to help with pets that were abandoned. Sierra loves helping others and learning about different cultures and cultural backgrounds. Sierra plans to attend law school after graduation.
Alex Phillips is a Political Science major with a concentration on applied politics with minors in History, Economics, and Leadership Development from Pittsburgh, PA. In high school he played on the soccer and volleyball teams, as well as being a member of the chamber choir and musical. Outside of school Alex works a job as a delivery driver and enjoys volunteering alongside his friends.
Jacob Ross is an Accounting major and a Leadership development minor from Independence, OH. In high school he was team captain for the cross country and is an Eagle Scout. Jacob is an Eucharistic Minister, was a Kairos Retreat leader, and a Peer Minister. After graduation, he hopes to open an accounting firm and eventually work for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Adam Salek is an Accountancy major and with minors in Entrepreneurship and Leadership Development from Medina, OH. He is a member of the JCU Wrestling Team and served as a captain on his high school football and wrestling teams. Adam also was a member of the entrepreneurship club and participated in several “Shark Tank” competitions. In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with friends, playing games, and brainstorming new business ideas and investment opportunities
Grant Sarnowski is a Business major and a Leadership Development minor from Springfield, IL. Grant is a member of the JCU Tennis team. In high school, he was captain of the tennis team and received all-state honors for three years. Grant was also captain of his Cross-Country team and was all-conference his junior and senior year. He was also involved in his Scholastic Bowl team and the Sangamon CEO Business Program.
Jacob Scaffidi is a Sports Studies major with minors in Leadership Development and Business from North Canton, OH. In high school, he played baseball, basketball, and later threw for the track team. Jacob was also a part of the school’s bipartisan club and was producer of the school’s TV broadcast. Outside of school, he was an alter server for his parish, works a part time job, and likes to hang out with friends. Jacob hopes to one day work in an NFL front office after his time at John Carroll.
Jo Schierloh is an Undecided major with Spanish and Leadership Development minors from Chicago, IL. In high school, she was involved in multiple sports, but her favorites were cross country, water polo, and sailing. Jo has participated in various service opportunities, such as teaching an ESL class to adults, a guitar class to children, and an art class to residents of Over the Rainbow. She loves traveling and is most looking forward to the service and study abroad trips John Carroll has to offer.
Anna Schramko is an Accounting major and Leadership Development minor from Avon Lake, Ohio. In high school, she was the captain of the Varsity Golf Team, the president of Mu Alpha Theta, and a member of the National Honor Society. Anna also performed accounting work for her school’s Business Club and volunteer work with the Outreach Program. Outside of school, she was a tutor within Campus Ministry. At John Carroll, Anna hopes to expand her leadership skills through service to others while working toward a degree in Business and being a member of the Women’s Golf Team.
Keeley Scullin is a Psychology major with an intended concentration in Neuroscience and a minor in Leadership Development from Hermitage, PA. In high school, she was a member of the varsity soccer team and participated in National Honor Society, eAcademy, Spanish Club, and History Club. Each summer, Keeley works at her local park as a camp counselor for kindergarten to second grade students. At John Carroll University, she intends to further develop her passion for working with children and aspires to eventually work in pediatrics.
Sara Maria Sfeir is a Biology major and Leadership Development minor from Beirut, Lebanon. In high school, she was captain of the school’s soccer team as well as head of the archiving committee of her school’s yearbook. Every summer, Sara volunteers at a health care center in her hometown and does service work. After graduation, Sara would like to pursue a career in medicine.
Tyler Siconolfi is an Accounting major and Leadership Development minor from Pittsburgh, PA. In high school, he played for the varsity ice hockey team, varsity roller hockey team, and the ultimate frisbee team. Tyler was also a member of NHS. During the hockey season, he served as a USA hockey referee and coaches his local hockey team for young kids in his community. In the summer, Tyler volunteers as a counselor for Vacation Bible School. He hopes to get involved in ice hockey and ultimate frisbee at John Carroll as well as helping out in the community.
Logan Sindone is a Political Science major and Leadership Development minor from Cleveland, Ohio. In high school, he was involved with Model United Nations as the Senior Training Officer. Also, he was the Senior Editor for The Edsman Newspaper, a leader in both PRISM (GSA) and Diversity Club, along with being involved in a number of service opportunities including Labre retreats. Also, Logan worked each summer since his freshman year as a part of the grounds keeping crew at his high school. This past year, he was involved in a number of electoral volunteering opportunities including phone banking and canvassing for local city council and Presidential Primary races. Logan hopes to get involved in a number of service and club activities in and around John Carroll.
Marie Steinkuhl is a Chemistry major with a concentration in neuroscience and Leadership Development minor from Cincinnati, OH. In high school, she was captain of the cross-country team, Student Council Representative all four years, and an active participant in her school’s service club. Outside of school, Marie has volunteered at many organizations including the National Veterans Wheelchair Games, Matthew 25 Ministries, and SEM Haven nursing home. She hopes to become involved with the Center of Service and Social Action and other clubs on campus.
Rachael Surkala is an Exercise Science major with a double minor in Psychology and Leadership Development from Erie, PA. She hopes to use these degrees to attend graduate school with the ultimate goal of becoming a physical therapist. In high school, Rachael was a 4-year member of the rowing team and served as a team captain both her junior and senior year. Rachael is an active member of a local retreat program called Divine Mercy Encounter. She is the type of person who is passionate about being kind and treating everyone with equality. At JCU, Rachael plans to be involved with Campus Ministry, service work, and studying abroad.
Ava Welchans is an International Business major with minors in Leadership and Italian from Wyckoff, NJ. She will be playing goalie on the Women’s lacrosse team at JCU and is looking forward to seeing everything Cleveland has to offer. Outside of school, Ava works as a Cutco sales representative and volunteers with her church.
