Fall 2020 Alumni Bios

Megan Boyk '15 is a resident physician in family practice in South Bend, Indiana.  During residency, she is focusing on care for the underserved and health services management.  Additionally, she is currently working towards a Master's in Public Affairs with a concentration in Health Systems Administration and Policy in hopes of becoming more involved with leadership and advocacy in the medical field.  As a student at John Carroll, aside from the Leadership Scholars Program, she was involved in the Honors Scholars Program, JCU-EMS, and choir.  She also worked as a campus tour guide.

Ruthie DuBois ‘18 is currently a family and adolescent mental health therapist through Ravenwood Health's Geauga Youth Center in Chardon, OH. She works as a certified trauma practitioner with teenagers who have been placed in a residential treatment center. She received her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Substance Use Treatment at JCU in August 2020. Her experiences at JCU working with marginalized communities through the CSSA created a foundation for advocacy that continues to shape her work. While a student at JCU, she majored in Psychology with a concentration in Child and Family Studies.

Emily Furin '17 graduated in 2020 with her BSN from Ursuline College and accepted a position as a nurse on a trauma-surgical intensive care unit. Prior to entering the 15 month accelerated nursing program, she worked as a chief medical scribe in an emergency room and as a course instructor at Go Ape Zipline and Adventure Course. At John Carroll, she was the president of the a capella group Streaks in Key; a Carroll Faith Community leader; volunteered with Students Today, Leaders Forever; participated on an immersion to Guatemala with campus ministry; worked in the Neuroscience Research Lab and as a student office assistant in the Office of Student Engagement

Marissa George ‘20 was recently accepted to Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine to begin medical school in the summer of 2021. She looks forward to continuing her education in Colorado to train in rural medicine and tribal healthcare. Until then, she continues to work at Southwest General Hospital in Emergency and Trauma and volunteer at the American Red Cross. While at JCU, she majored in Cell and Molecular Biology with a minor in Leadership Development. She held multiple leadership positions in Kappa Alpha Theta, Order of Omega, and the Honors Program. She was also a member of the Leadership Scholars Program and attended an immersion trip to Pine Ridge Native American Reservation, which sparked her interest in practicing medicine on a reservation.

Colleen Gong '15 earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and is working as an Associate Attorney at Faulkner, Garmhausen, Keister & Shenk in Sidney, Ohio. Her practice is concentrated on labor and employment law and corporate and commercial work. She advises businesses on a wide array of employment-related matters including wage and hour disputes, internal business policies and procedures, and compliance with state and federal law. While at John Carroll, she was a member of the Honors Program, worked as a Tour Guide, was actively involved in Campus Ministry and the Immersion Program, and studied History and Classics. She married Michael Gong ('15) in March 2020.

 

Jenny Grant ’17 is completing her Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Bowling Green State University, Ohio, where she is researching topics surrounding addiction, religion and spirituality, and trauma, as well as training to be a licensed psychologist. She also started and runs a prayer/spirituality group at BGSU and is a clinical student representative. While at JCU, she was a member of Psi Chi, Alpha Sigma Nu, the Psychology Club, Alpha Omega, and studied Psychology, with a minor in Theology.

Jacob Haas '19 is working as a Software Developer at Medical Mutual within the Enterprise Data Warehouse and RPA Architect teams. His position requires an understanding of both the healthcare system as well as the information systems behind it in order to provide company insights and to develop automated robotic processes. During his time at John Carroll, he majored in Computer Science and minored in Leadership Development, later returning to complete his MBA in 2020. As a student he was also a member of the stargazing club and the paranormal club.

Derek Naim ‘18 is working as the Director of Operations for Chagrinovations, LLC. Chagrinovations is a consumer products company headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. The main objective of this business is to create innovative patented products, and to sell them into mass retail and ecommerce platforms like Amazon. At JCU, Derek was a member of the Blue Streak Football Team, Member of the Sports Information Department, a Rec Desk Team Leader, while studying Finance in the Boler College of Business.

Noah Paulsen ’20 is currently working for the Lubrizol Corporation in the Cleveland area in their Advanced Materials division following a year and a half internship with the company. His work now has him working with customers from around the globe and analyzing vast amounts of data to better understand how to best serve customers. He has also continued working as a freelance graphic designer/photographer/videographer in his free time. While at John Carroll he was an International Business major with a minor in Spanish and was the President of the International Business Association, Photography Editor of the Carroll News, Chair of the Membership Development board of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, and a member of the Order of Omega Honors Fraternity.

Brandon Parr '16 graduated medical school this year from Campbell University in Lillington, North Carolina. This spring, he matched at the University of Chicago NorthShore, and is now continuing his training as an internal medicine resident in Chicago, Illinois. His wife and him, whom he met at JCU, just celebrated their second wedding anniversary in October of this year. While at JCU, Brandon served as President of the fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon, started a legacy project known as Shampoo for the Red, White, and Blue that still continues annually, and was involved in neuroscience research at the Cleveland Clinic that has led to publications.

Nick Reis ‘19 is working as a Client Solutions Executive for the 3rd Party Logistics Firm, Echo Global Logistics. On a daily basis, his position entails developing, maintaining and managing new client relationships in the Logistics Industry. He also drives new account growth via prospecting and sourcing. Nick currently works at Echo’s branch location in Nashville, TN. While at John Carroll, Nick was a member of the Football Program and studied Business Management along with Leadership Development.   

John Ringer ‘15 is the Vice President of Operations and production manager at Ringer Screen Print/Wholesale Imprints in North Kingsville, Ohio, after majoring in education in college. While at JCU, he served as a Resident Assistant and as a SWAT Leader, and participated in several intramural sports each year.  

Rachel Sammon '15 is working as a Chemist II at the Sherwin-Williams Company in Global Supply Chain Research and Development. Her position entails working on a division-wide waste management system, leading quality investigations involving production issues, and providing support for new product development. While at John Carroll, Rachel was a circulation desk assistant at the Grasselli Library and Breen Learning Center, was a co-op with the Sherwin-Williams Company, and studied Biochemistry.

Steven Schmitz '17, '18G started his career at PwC Public Sector in the Department of Defense (DoD) sector where he supported the United States Army in Business Process Improvement Initiatives. Today he is a management consultant at DayBlink Consulting located in Washington D.C. There he provides advisory services within the Financial Transformation and Ventures arms of the company to clients all over the world. Steven also volunteers at Wrestling to Beat the Streets DC, an organization dedicated to improving youth development and self-esteem while reducing juvenile crime through the sport of wrestling. While at John Carroll, he was involved as a Senior Resident Assistant, member of the wrestling team, member of the jazz band, and active in service-learning. He majored in accountancy and minored in leadership development. Later, he earned his Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A.) with a concentration in international business.

 

 

 

CLASS OF 2022 LEADERSHIP SCHOLARS

Katherine Arnold is double majoring in Financial Planning & Wealth Management and Finance with a Leadership Development minor from Columbus, OH. She is a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity where she is the social committee chair. Outside of the classroom, Katherine works in the Office of Student Engagement and plans to pursue a career in financial planning.

 

Zach Barther is an Exercise Science major with a minor in Leadership Development from Parma, OH. Zach is a fitness coach and personal trainer at Orange Theory Fitness and at the RTSC Training Center. He also serves as a Peer Health Advocate and is a member of the SAS jiu jitsu team, the Exercise Science Club, and the Boler Business Leadership Society. After graduation, Zach will be pursuing a career in chiropractic medicine and holistic wellness.

 

Carlo Bertoni is majoring in both Supply Chain Management and Marketing with a Leadership Development minor from Pittsburgh, PA. He is a member of the JCU Hockey team and worked as a supply chain intern for ARMADA Supply Chain Solutions.

 

Zachary Braun

 

Cassandra Calamunci is a Marketing major and Leadership Development minor from Sylvania, OH. She is on the JCU Volleyball team and serves as one of the team’s captains. Cassi enjoys volunteering around campus and participating in various leadership events.  She plans to stay at JCU to get an MBA and then pursue a career in real estate.

 

Elsie Connell is a Political Science and History double major with a Leadership Development minor from Oak Park, IL. She is a member of the JCU Swim team and the Pre-Law Society. Elsie also works in John Carroll’s Sports Information Department during the school year and she spent the summer both as a legal intern for Harrison Law LLC and working as a sailing instructor in Northern Michigan.

 

Madi Daube is majoring in both Marketing and Supply Chain Management major with a Leadership Development minor from Granville, OH. On campus, Madi works as a Tour Guide and has just completed a summer internship with Aldi as a District Manager Intern.

 

Mary DiDonato is a Forensics major with minors in both Leadership Development and Sociology and Criminology from Pittsburgh, PA. She completed a summer internship with a small law firm in Charleston, SC and is looking forward to a potential future career in law.

 

Nicholas Falbo is an Exercise Science major with a Leadership Development minor from Grand Island, NY. At JCU, Nick is the president of the Exercise Science Club as well as the marketing officer of the Psychology Club. Nick will also be interning with JCU strength coach Tim Robertson and recently completed his United States Association of Weightlifting certification and plans to sit for the Certified Strength and Conditioning Speciatlist exam this spring.

 

Brady Fields is a Finance major from Lake Geneva, WI. He played on the JCU baseball team and is the President of the Boler Business Leadership Society. Brady serves as a tour guide and participated in the El Salvador immersion trip. He served as a legal intern for Tully & Associates in addition to working as a Summer Analyst within the Investment Banking and Capital Markets division at Chicago-based financial firm Mesirow.

 

Zach Gerber is a Finance & Wealth Management major from Aurora, OH. Outside of the classroom Zach is President of the Boler Business Leadership Society, a member of the Finance Association, and runs varsity track.

 

Bobby Goff is an AYA Education and English double major with a minor in Leadership Development from Cleveland, OH. He has been performing research on developing methods for teachers to incorporate mental health into the English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum in their classrooms, with their work being published in an Ohio journal.  

 

Savannah Grandovic is an English Literature major with a minor in Chemistry on a pre-medical track from Pittsburgh, PA. She founded the student organization Savvy Headbands and previously served as the president of Chi Omega, is currently the vice president of the American Chemical Society, and is a member of the Pre-health Club. Savannah serves as a teaching assistant for the general chemistry lab and also conducts research with Dr. Nichols in the chemistry department on CBD and hemp oil. After graduation, she plans to attend medical school to become a forensic pathologist.

 

Reilly Haas is a Sports Studies major with minors in Business and Leadership Development from Loveland, OH. This past summer, she interned at the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission where she served as the Community Programming intern. Reilly is also a member of the Student Leadership team for CSSA, involved in various campus ministry organizations, serves as the treasure for Alpha Sigma Nu, and will be participating in the US/Mexico border immersion trip.

 

Jared Hinton is a Cell and Molecular Biology major with minors in Business, Leadership Development, and Chemistry from North Ridgeville, OH. He serves as the Chief of the JCU EMS department and is actively involved with several pre-health organizations, RallyCap Sports, and the Alpha Sigma Nu Jesuit Honor Society. Jared has recently started working as a research assistant studying the innate immune response to viral infections like COVID-19. After graduation, he plans to attend medical school and further his passion for healthcare and leadership.

 

Spencer Hood is a Finance major with a minor in Leadership Development from Sylvania, OH. He currently works for Rocket Mortgage as a Mortgage Banking intern. Spencer is also a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity and CFO of the Investment Club. After graduation, Spencer plans on returning to Rocket Mortgage as a Mortgage Banker.

 

Miranda Keck is a Supply Chain major with a minor in Leadership Development from North Jackson, OH. She recently interned at KeyBank within Business Risk and Controls and will be returning to a work at KeyBank in the Technology and Operations area upon graduation.

 

Kaeleigh Kirkwood is a Philosophy major with minors in Population and Public Health, Political Science, and Leadership Development from Buffalo, NY. She serves as president and founder of JCU’s Self-Care Club, vice president of Carroll Crazies, a Peer Health Advocate, and a Leadership Coach. Kaeleigh also teaches a Philosophy for Kids program at a local middle school. Following graduation Kaeleigh plans to attend law school, where she hopes to gain both a Juris Doctor degree along with a Master’s in Public Health.

 

Jasmine McCallum is a Psychology major with a double minor in Leadership Development and Statistics from Webster, NY. She served as an Orientation Leader and also works as a Peer Health Advocate and in the JCU Mail Center while volunteering at YouthAbility.

 

Jasmine Milton is a Psychology major and Leadership Development Minor from Garfield Heights, OH. She is actively involved in the Black Students in Action student organization as the Head of Communications, as well as a peer mentor for John Carroll’s MELT mentoring program for underrepresented students on campus. Jasmine currently works at her local YMCA as a swim instructor for children with Autism and has also completed two internships at the Cleveland Clinics ADHD Center.

 

Hailey Rozanksi is a Marketing major with a minor in Leadership Development from Buffalo, NY. On campus, she is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, Boler Business Leadership Society and Women in Business. Hailey also has been a Field Marketing and Sales Intern for Techtronic Industries in Buffalo, NY. After graduation, she plans to pursue a career in advertising or public relations.

 

Sarah Sahlani is an Accountancy major from Willoughby Hills, Ohio. She is the Vice President of the Accounting Association and is on the executive board for the Boler Business Leadership Society and has accepted a full-time offer as a Risk and Financial Advisory Associate for Deloitte & Touche, LLP in Chicago after graduation in May.

 

Jonathan Sandstrom is from Jamestown, New York and is majoring in Psychology with a concentration in Child/Family Studies while minoring in both Leadership Development and Statistics & Analytics. At JCU, Jon is the President of Alpha Sigma Nu, the Honor Society of Jesuit Universities and is involved in research through the JCU Psychology Department. He hopes to eventually become a School Psychologist.

 

Garrett Siegel is from Ipswich, MA and is majoring in Finance while minoring in Leadership Development.. He is a member of the JCU baseball team, works for the Sports Information Department, and has served as a SWAT Leader during Streak Week.

 

Trey Smith is an Accountancy major from Cincinnati, OH. He was a member of the JCU baseball team for 3 years and is a member of the Finance Association while completing various service activities. Trey interned at Ernst and Young this past summer and has accepted a full-time position as an assurance associate following graduation.

 

Rory Vigrass

 

Hannah Wells is an Exercise Science major from Lyndhurst, OH. In addition to being a member of the Exercise Science Club, she served as a SWAT leader during Streak Week. Hannah also works off-campus at Hillcrest Hospital as a nursing assistant (PCNA) on a trauma unit. After graduation, she plans on pursuing a career as a physician's assistant.

 

Sarah Wells is an Exercise Science major from Lyndhurst, OH. She is an officer in the Exercise Science Club two years and served as a SWAT leader during Streak Week. Sarah has worked as a lifeguard at Beechmont Country Club, a waitress and hostess at Geraci’s Restaurant, and now works as a PCNA at Hillcrest Hospital. After graduation, she hopes to attend PA school.

 

Patrick White is an Integrated Marketing Communications major and Leadership Development minor from Stow, OH.  He is a member of the JCU Cross Country and Track & Field teams and has also served as a tutor for the Boys Hope/Girls Hope Organization.  Patrick currently works as a Real Estate Intern for First Energy.

Joe Backus is a Data Science major and Leadership Development minor from Olmsted Falls, OH. He is a member of the cross country and indoor and outdoor track team, while also volunteering at the Cleveland Food Bank and working at a store called 2nd Sole.

 

Colson Brown

 

Gracie Bressoud is an Exercise Science major and Leadership Development minor from Columbus, OH. She is a member of the JCU softball team, a peer mentor for the COF STEM program and has an on-campus job with equipment and events. Gracie has been shadowing in the chiropractic field with the hopes of entering that field after graduation.

 

Drezdan Dale is a Data Science major with minors in Business, Leadership Development, and Analytics/Statistics from Peru, IL. He works in the JCU Sports Information Department and is involved in the Student Organization Budgeting Board. Drezdan also works as a Business Operations-Data Intern at Fund That Flip.

 

Miranda Day is a junior majoring in Early Childhood Education and minoring in Leadership Development from Pittsburgh, PA. She serves as a Carroll Faith Community small group leader.

 

Mary Evankovich is an Early Childhood Education major with minors in Spanish and Hispanic Studies and Leadership Development from Pittsburgh, PA. She is currently the Chief Executive Officer for her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, and External Director for Dance Marathon. Mary holds a work-study position with the musical department and cantors with the church choir.  She spent her summer working as Lead Teacher of Kiddie Academy’s school-aged summer program.

 

Tanner Gill-Snow is a Biology and Education major and Leadership Development minor from Whitehouse, OH. He is on the JCU Men’s lacrosse team, a New Student Orientation Leader, a MELT Mentor, and a part of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

 

Rachel Halapchuk is an Industrial/Organizational Psychology major with a minor in Leadership Development from Pittsburgh, PA. Rachel is a student liaison for CSSA, a member of SAAC, and is also a member of the JCU Swimming and Diving Team. After Graduation, Rachel plans on pursuing a Master’s in Nonprofit Administration.

 

Sarah Hanlon is an Exercise Science major with minors in Spanish and Leadership Development, from Orchard Park, NY. She is on the JCU Diving team, while also working in the Campus Ministry Department. She is a CFC and retreat leader on campus as well as the president of the Respect for Life club. After graduation, Sarah plans on pursuing a career in the medical field.

 

Alara Koprulu is a Communications Marketing major with minors in Leadership Development and English from Rocky River, OH. On campus, she is a member of the JCU Wind Ensemble and volunteers with Boys Hope/Girls Hope

 

Emma Kosicek is a Communication Advocacy major with minors in Political Science and Leadership Development from Ashtabula, OH. She is the President of the Student Union Programming Board, an Orientation Leader, a Student Liaison for the Center for Service Learning and Social Action, a member of Chi Omega sorority, and will be participating in the US/Mexico border immersion trip.

 

Megan Lane is a Supply Chain Management and Marketing double major with a minor in Leadership Development from Cleveland, OH. She has served as an Orientation Leader as well as a Recreation Desk Attendant.

 

Collin Melligan

 

Nora McKee is a Communications Digital Media major with minors in Creative Writing, Peace, Justice, and Human Rights, and Leadership Development from Gibsonia, PA. She serves as a Tour Guide, an Orientation Leader, a desk attendant for the Recreation Department, and a CSSA liaison. Nora participates in weekly service with the Writers in Residence program and has interned as a Young Writers Workshop camp counselor.

 

Adam Okuley is a Finance and Economics major with minors in Spanish and Leadership Development from Sylvania, OH. Adam participates in weekly service, Campus Ministry events, and many intramural sports. He is also a member of the Student Organization Budgeting Board, the Financial Officer for the Labre Core Team, and he competes on the Club Sailing team. He also works as a Facilities Supervisor for the Recreation Department, a Peer Success Advisor in the Office of Academic Success, and a New Student Orientation Leader.

 

Caylin Perryman is a Sociology and Criminology major with a concentration in Forensic Behavioral Studies and minoring in Forensic Psychology and Leadership Development from Honeoye Falls, NY.  She is a SWAT Leader on campus and a member of the JCU Women’s Lacrosse team. Outside of JCU, Caylin coaches rising eighth grade girls’ lacrosse.

 

Hannah Pollack is a Psychology major with a concentration in Mental Health Services and Leadership Development minor from North East, PA. She is a member of the Chi Omega sorority and has served as a Panhellenic Judicial Board representative. After graduating, Hannah plans on becoming a licensed therapist.

 

Sam Rodgers is an Exercise Science major on a pre-med track with a Leadership Development minor from Monclova, OH. Sam is on the JCU men’s lacrosse team and plans to attend medical school and pursue a career as an orthopedic surgeon.

 

Brenden Swann is a Sports Management major with a minor in Leadership Development from North Royalton, OH. Brendan is a member of the JCU men’s soccer team.

 

Brooke Talbot is a Marketing and Supply Chain Management major with a Leadership Development minor from Erie, PA. She is the Vice President of Administration for Women in Business and an active member of Savvy Headbands and Cru on campus. Brooke also works in the Office of Student Engagement.

 

Elice Wisner

 

JP Yerian is a Marketing and Supply Chain Management double major with a minor in Leadership Development from Poland, OH. He currently works for 17 River Grille as a line cook following his passion for cooking and is also a member of the John Carroll forensics team.  After graduation, he hopes to find a marketing or supply chain position in the culinary industry.

 

Katy Zoller is a Political Science and PJHR major with minors in Spanish and Leadership Development from Fairview Park, OH. On campus, she is the founder of Students Demand Action at JCU, a bipartisan student organization focused on gun violence prevention, and is also a peer mentor with the Center for Diversity and Inclusion.

CLASS OF 2024 LEADERSHIP SCHOLARS

 

Sophia Alberico is an Early Childhood Education major with a Leadership Development minor from Erie, PA. She is a current member of Kappa Delta sorority as well as a Carroll Faith Community Leader. Sophia also spends her time volunteering with the Mercy Center for Women and working as a server at a local restaurant. Sophia pursue a career as an elementary school teacher.

 

Caitie Berndtson is an Early Childhood Education major and Leadership Development minor from Buffalo, NY. Catie serves as a Resident Assistant and plans to teach elementary school after graduation.

 

Michael Bevington is a Finance major and Leadership Development minor from Cincinnati, Ohio. Michael is an Orientation Leader and a member of the JCU men’s lacrosse team.

 

Abby Birch is a Political Science and History major with minors in Peace, Justice, and Human Rights and Leadership Development from Pittsburgh, PA. On campus, she works at the Recreation Center as a desk attendant.

 

Zach Brinks is an Undecided major with a minor in Leadership Development from Cincinnati, OH. He is on the JCU Golf team, while also serving as a Carroll Faith Community leader and a Student Liaison for the Center of Service and Social Action.

 

Claire Colbaugh is a Marketing Major and Leadership Development minor from Grosse Ile, MI. She is on the JCU Tennis team and is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi. Claire plans pursue a career in marketing management after graduation.

 

Jennifer Follmer is a Marketing major and Leadership Development minor from Cleveland, OH. She is a member of the JCU Volleyball team and also works off-campus as a Sales Associate at Orange Theory Fitness. Jennifer hopes to have a career in digital marketing after graduation.

 

Flora Frieden is a Sociology/Criminology major with a minor in Leadership Development from Chardon, OH. She works for the JCU Sports Information Department and as a cashier at Dick’s Sporting Goods.

 

Anna Glass is a Marketing major with minors in Leadership Development and Data Science from Needham, MA. On campus, she is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity and Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Anna also is on the JCU swim team.

 

Leah Harrigan is an undecided major with a Leadership Development minor from Orchard Park, NY.  She is member of the club basketball team and volunteers her time coaching youth soccer and basketball.

 

Aeneas Hines is a Communications major with a minor in Leadership Development from Chicago, IL. He serves as a MELT peer mentor and has worked as a tennis coach and instructor.

 

Maddie Laird is an Early Childhood Education major with minors in Catholic Studies and Leadership Development from Pittsburgh, PA. She is a Tour Guide, a Campus Ministry retreat team leader, a Carroll Faith Community leader, and a member of Labre. Maddie hopes to participate in John Carroll’s immersion trips through campus ministry and plans on pursuing careers as an elementary school teacher and youth minister.

 

Lexi MacDonald is a Biology major with minors in Spanish and Leadership Development from Clarence, NY. She is a member of the JCU volleyball team and worked as an EMT at Six Flags Darien Lake over the summer. Lexi enjoys traveling and plans to study abroad in Spain while attending PA school after graduation.

 

Max Malley is a Political Science and Peace Justice Human Rights major with a Leadership Development Minor from Westlake, OH. Max serves as the class president in Student Government, where is also the chairperson of the Community Relations and Service Committee, the Financial Officer of the College Democrats at John Carroll University, and is a member of the Speech and Debate team.

 

Sarah McAllister is an Integrated Marketing Communications major with minors in Entrepreneurship and Leadership Development from Pittsburgh, PA. On campus, she leads the Peer Health Advocate group in the Wellness Center and is a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority.

 

Sierra McCarroll is a Criminology major with minors in Theology and Religious Studies and Leadership Development from Euclid, OH. After college Sierra plans to pursue a career in criminology.

 

Alex Phillips is a Political Science major with minors in History and Leadership Development from Gibsonia, PA. He is a member of the JCU College Democrats, participates in service projects through JCU, and hopes to be involved in intramural sports.

 

Jacob Ross is an Accountancy major and a Leadership Development minor from Independence, OH. He is a member of the John Carroll Rowing Club and works in the bag room of Chagrin Valley Country Club. After graduation, he hopes to open an accounting firm and eventually work for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

 

Adam Salek is an Accountancy major with a minor in Leadership Development from Medina, OH. He is a member of the JCU Wrestling Team, works as the Athletic Liaison on the Student Union Programming Board, and is a New Student Orientation Leader.

 

Grant Sarnowski is an economics major and a Leadership Development minor from Springfield, IL. Grant is a member of the JCU Tennis team and a member of the Economic Society.  During the summer, Grant works as a teller for Illinois National Bank and he also does work as a sportswriter for Wisconsin Sports Heroics.

 

Jacob Scaffidi is a Sports Studies major with minors in Leadership Development and Business from North Canton, OH. Jacob hopes to one day work in an NFL front office.

 

Jo Schierloh is a Sociology major with Spanish and Leadership Development minors from Chicago, IL. On campus, she is on the Student Union Programming, a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, serving as the chapter’s Panhellenic delegate, and will be participating in the US/Mexico border immersion trip this year.

 

Anna Schramko is an Accountancy major with minors in Data Science and Leadership Development from Avon Lake, OH. She is a member of the JCU women’s golf team.

 

Keeley Scullin is a Psychology Neuroscience major and Leadership Development minor from Hermitage, PA. On campus, she is an Orientation, serves as a Student Liaison for the Center for Service and Social Action, and work as a Recreation Facilities Attendant Supervisor for the Department of Recreation. Off campus, she works at Galvin Therapy Center as a Registered Behavioral Technician for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Following graduation, she intends to continue her education in a doctoral neuropsychology program.

 

Sara Sfeir is a Biology major and Leadership Development minor from Beirut, Lebanon. She serves as a member of the Student Organization Budgeting Board and a member of the Model Arab League club. After graduation, Sara hopes to pursue a career in medicine.

 

Tyler Siconolfi is an Accountancy major and Leadership Development minor from Pittsburgh, PA. Tyler is a member of Beta Theta P fraternity and plays on the Ultimate Frisbee club team as well. Over the summer, he is a sales associate for Sportsman’s Warehouse.

 

Logan Sindone

 

Marie Steinkuhl is a Psychology major with a concentration in neuroscience and Leadership Development minor from Cincinnati, OH. She is a Carroll Faith Community co-leader as well as a part of the JCU Retreat Team. Marie is also a Choose Ohio First Scholar and serves as a Peer Mentor for that program.

 

Rachael Surkala is an Exercise Science major with a double minor in Psychology and Leadership Development from Erie, PA. She serves as the Secretary of the Rowing Club and as a small group leader for a Carroll Faith Community. After graduation, Rachel hopes to work as a Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist.

 

Katelyn Testa is a double major in Mathematics and Education with a minor in Leadership Development from Erie, PA. She is a member of the JCU track and field team.

 

Ava Welchans is a Marketing major with minors in Leadership Development and Italian from Wyckoff, N.J. She is a member of the JCU women’s lacrosse team.

 

CLASS OF 2025 LEADERSHIP SCHOLARS

 

Morgan Anderson is an Undecided major with a Leadership Development minor from Ashtabula, OH. In high school, she was heavily involved in sports and many clubs. In her community, she has been a nanny for two years and volunteers as a volleyball coach. This past summer, Morgan completed the FBI Future Agents in Training program where she was taught hands-on by the Cleveland FBI and developed a strong passion for public service. In the near future, she hopes to learn and grow through the service opportunities that John Carroll has to offer.

 

Tyler Capron is a double major in English and AYA Education, while also pursuing a minor in Leadership Development from Cuyahoga Falls, OH. In high school he participated in student government, campus ministry, the National Honors Society, The Sketch (literary arts publication), and pole vault. He also completed various service activities throughout high school including the Labre Project where he built relationships with the homeless of Akron, and the Students of the Year fundraiser through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

 

Ryan Champa is a Marketing major and Leadership Development minor from Cuyahoga Falls, OH. He is a member of the JCU Cross Country and Indoor/Outdoor Track teams. After graduating from JCU he plans to pursue a career in business.

 

JJ Cuddy is a Business major and Leadership Development minor from Pittsburgh, PA. In high school, he was captain of the varsity soccer team, a member of the Natural Helpers Program, and a high honor roll student. Outside of school, JJ enjoys reading and working as a fitness attendant at his local Recreation Center.

 

Lauren Devin is a Business major and Leadership Development minor from Buffalo, NY. Throughout high school she was a member of the class office and student council, a captain of her varsity swim team, and a member of the National Honors Society. Lauren enjoyed volunteering at St. Luke’s missionary throughout the winter and Vacation Bible School at her parish in the summer.

 

Aidan Dugan is an Early Childhood Education major and Leadership Development minor from Buffalo, NY.  He is a member of the JCU men’s lacrosse team.

 

Ryan Funderburg is a Middle Childhood Education major with a Leadership Development minor from Solon, OH. In high school, he was a captain of both the baseball and soccer team and Editor-in-chief of the school newspaper. Ryan is a member of the JCU baseball team and worked as a camp counselor and babysitter in the summer. He hopes to be a 6th grade math teacher and baseball coach after graduation.

 

Nicholas Graeca is a Biology major and Leadership Development minor from DuBois, PA. He is a member of the JCU men’s soccer team. After graduation Nick plans to attend medical school.

 

Mary Gregory is a Business major and Leadership Development minor from Broadview Heights, OH. In high school, she was heavily involved in Deca, placing first in state preliminaries and qualifying for nationals. She plans on getting involved in service opportunities and clubs, along with the interests of pursuing internships and studying abroad. She hopes to join a sorority and further help with organizations and charities they support on a large scale.

 

Kara Grose is a Communications major with a concentration in Integrated Marketing Communications with minors in Spanish and Leadership Development from Rochester, NY. In high school she was a member of the varsity soccer team and played in the orchestra. She also participated in student council and National Honor Society. She hopes to pursue these interests in college and further strengthen her leadership skills!

 

Gia Hamed is a Political Science major with minors in Leadership Development and Peace Justice and Human Rights from Cleveland, OH. Throughout high school she has volunteered to help both local and global communities such as countries like Qatar, Turkey and Kenya. She was also very involved in Model United Nations where she eventually became the President of the club. She loves to travel and is very excited to attend John Carroll and take part in service trips and intends to develop her passion for human rights. Gia is planning to attend law school after she graduates.

 

Elizabeth Heim is an Exercise Science major and Leadership Development minor from Johns Creek, GA. She is a member of the JCU cross country and indoor/outdoor track teams. At home, Elizabeth volunteers with Save The Horses Rescue. After graduation, she plans to work as an occupational therapist and hopefully open up her own hippotherapy center.

 

Samantha (Sammy) Kuczynski is an undecided major with an interest in business, and a Leadership Development minor from Hinckley, OH. In high school, she was on the varsity tennis team, where she served as team captain. She was involved in a variety of clubs such as Peer Leading, DARE, and Safety Committee. Outside of school, Sammy coaches tennis andvolunteers for a non-profit organization, THRIVE Through Tennis.

 

Jessica Liddle is a Finance major from Barberton, OH. She is a member of the JCU volleyball team and hopes to pursue a career as a financial advisor while also continuing her volunteer work with animals.

 

Justin Lynch is an undecided major with a minor in Leadership Development from Chicago, IL. He is an avid sports fan and has held jobs as a produce clerk and with Door Dash. Justin also enjoyed participating in service while playing hockey and lacrosse in high school.

 

Colin Moore is a Sports Studies major with a Leadership Development minor from Upper Arlington, OH. He is a member of the JCU men’s lacrosse team. Through high school he was a part of the student run TV show, and was in the student spirit club. Colin was involved in the community's youth football and lacrosse camps along with volunteering as a coach for athletes with special needs.

 

Hayden Mumbach is a Finance major with a minor in Leadership Development from Hamburg, NY. In high school he played basketball and lacrosse, where he was captain of his high school team his senior year. Hayden is a member of the JCU men’s lacrosse team. Outside of school Hayden was involved in his town’s annual MLK food drive, and his local food kitchen.

 

Taylor Olson

 

Amanda Pancake is a Biology major with a Leadership Development minor from Columbus, OH. In high school, she was captain of the Girls’ Varsity Golf team and President of two service clubs, Corral for the Kids and the Ronald McDonald House Baking Club. She was also involved in her high school’s Evangelization team and a member of the National Honor Society. Outside of school, Amanda volunteers at various junior golf camps, including a golf camp for children diagnosed with autism or Down syndrome. At John Carroll, Amanda plans to play on the Women’s Golf team and get involved with service activities and Campus Ministry.

 

Evan Smith is a Professional and Creative Writing Major with minors in Business and Leadership Development from Lyndhurst, OH. During high school he was a member of the Cross Country team, as well as both the indoor and outdoor Track and Field team. Evan also participated in the Labre Program to help the homeless throughout Cleveland. While at John Carroll, Evan hopes to join the Track and Field team, but to also join in on various social and service-based opportunities around campus.

 

Grace Talbot is an Undecided Major with a Leadership Development minor from Erie, PA. In high school, Grace was the senior class secretary and an elected member of student government for four years. She was also involved in her school’s branch of the National Honors Society and tutored fellow high school students. In her spare time, she was involved with her high school’s theater program and loved to volunteer at local camps and events. She is excited to get involved in clubs on campus and hopes to continue her involvement in service.

 

Vladimir Tchepak is a Biology major with minors in Leadership Development and Business from Cleveland, OH. He currently works at Michael Angelo's Winery and Hilton Hotels as a server and busser. In high school Vlad participated in many clubs like HUDDLE, SAFE Club, Science Olympiad. He loves to volunteer at his church during festivals, banquets and other activities.

 

Yanni Volas is an Accountancy major with a Leadership Development minor from North Canton, OH. In high school, he was the varsity captain of the football team, Senior Class President, and a member of National Honors Society. Yanni was also a part of the Canton Youth Symphony and president of his church youth groups, where he has spent a lot of his time volunteering for various events and also danced for the St. Haralambos Hellenic Folk Dance group.  He is a member of the JCU football team and is looking to get involved and take on leadership roles in various clubs and organizations.

 

Meghan Weiner is a Biology Major with a minor in leadership Development from Pittsford, NY. She has a passion for helping people and wants to become a nurse and is on the JCU women's lacrosse team. In high school she was a peer leader for her youth group and did a lot of outreach downtown to help the homeless. At John Carroll she hopes to become a part of Campus Ministry along with finding ways to help the homeless community in Cleveland.

 

Nathaniel Welch is a Cellular and Molecular Biology major with minors in Chemistry and Leadership Development from Columbus, OH. He is in the process of joining the JCU EMS team. And he was admitted to early medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and planning on becoming an Anesthesiologist.

Jett Wieber is a Psychology major and Leadership Development minor from Avon, OH. In high school, Jett was a Captain of the Cross Country team, Indoor Track and Field team, and Outdoor Track and Field team. He will continue to be involved in Cross Country and Track and Field at JCU and hopes to get involved with Campus Ministry and explore service opportunities.

 

Morgan Wieczenski is a Secondary Education major with a concentration in Biology, and a minor in Leadership Development from Pittsburgh, PA. Throughout high school she played for her high school varsity volleyball team, as well as playing competitively for her club volleyball team. She earned her certificate in the International Baccalaureate program and was a member of the National Honors Society. Outside of school, she coaches younger girls in a competitive volleyball camp, babysits, and works at her local country club. Morgan is excited to be on the volleyball team and to seek out more service opportunities at JCU.

 

Adrianna Zura is a Biology major, pursuing a minor in Leadership Development from Broadview Heights, OH. Adrianna is a part of Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Early Assurance Program, and will be attending medical school following completion of her Bachelor’s degree at JCU. Outside of school Adrianna volunteers her time working for Medwish International, sending medical supplies to developing countries.
