STUDENTS WHO DECLARE A Minor JUNE 2017 OR LATER SHOULD FOLLOW THESE PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS, PREREQUISITES AND SUGGESTIONS FOR SCHEDULING:

Minor in Statistics and Analytics: 18-20 credit hours.

  • DATA 100 Introduction to Data Science
  • MT 223/DATA 260 Intermediate Statistics
  • MT 422/DATA 422 Applied Statistics or approved internship
  • MT 424 /DATA 424 Applied Regression Analysis
  • 2 Application area electives chosen from this list:

Students who minor in probability and statistics may not use MT 422 or MT 424 to also satisfy the requirements of the mathematics major or minor.

In certain cases other courses may be substituted for these courses but must be approved by the Department Chair.

THE FOLLOWING ARE REQUIREMENTS AND PREREQUISITES FOR STUDENTS WHO DECLARED PRIOR TO JUNE 2017

Minor in Statistics: 19-20 credit hours.

  • MT 135 Calculus and Analytic Geometry I
  • MT 322 Applied Regression Analysis
  • MT 422 Applied Statistics
  • One of the following:
  • MT 223 Intermediate Statistics
  • MT 228 Statistics for the Biological Sciences
  • MT 229 Probability and Statistics
  • One of the following pairs of elective courses
  • MT 342 and MT 421
  • CH 261/263 and CH 441/443
  • PS 301/301L and PS 401
  • EC 409 and EC 410
  • BL 224 and BL 444

Students who minor in statistics cannot use MT 421 or MT 422 also to satisfy the requirements of the mathematics major or minor.

In certain cases other courses may be substituted for these courses but must be approved by the Department Chair.
