Goodyear Scholars Award
$10,000 (2 available)
This scholarship is awarded to two deserving students from Summit county, Ohio. The award will be in addition to any merit scholarship awarded from the Office of Admission at the time of acceptance to John Carroll. There is no separate application for this scholarship. To be considered, students must:
- be a resident of Summit county, Ohio
- apply for admission by our December 1 Early Action deadline
- present a competitive record of academic achievement along with a demonstrated commitment to leadership and service to others throughout their high school career
- file for financial aid through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
William Henkel Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an incoming first-year student who is a graduate of St. Vincent-St. Mary’s High School in Akron, Ohio.
Yonto Family Scholarship
Awarded to an Orrville High School graduate with a 2.75 GPA and evidence of leadership. Candidates from Archbishop Hoban, St. Vincent/Mary or Canton Central Catholic will also be considered.
Brian & Janine Mortellaro Scholarship
The Brian & Jane Mortellaro Scholarship is awarded yearly to one incoming student from Guernsey, Muskingum, Knox, Franklin, Licking, Morrow, or Holmes Counties in Ohio.
Central Ohio Alumni Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a student from the greater Columbus, Ohio, area who is involved in extracurricular activities and displays evidence of leadership while maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Mark Schell Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a student from the Columbus/Central Ohio area. The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 2.75, an inspiring attitude, a positive influence on peers, and provide service to others.
Chicago Alumni Chapter Leadership Scholarship*
This scholarship is intended for an individual from the Chicago area who has proven that they will be a leader while at JCU. Separate application required. For more information, please contact your enrollment manager.
The Cavanagh Scholarship provides support for a student from St. Viator High School in Chicago.
The Charles McGarrity Scholarship*
This scholarship is given to a student from any Catholic high school in Chicago, Illinois. Special consideration given to those students from Loyola Academy High School with a min GPA of 2.75.
Loyola Academy Scholarship*
The Loyola Academy Scholarship was created to recognize the academic excellence of a Loyola Academy student who represents the characteristics of Ignatian heritage and is committed to Jesuit education. The $30,000 annual scholarship is awarded to a student with ACT score of at least 27, combined with a 90 or higher on the Loyola Academy unweighted 100 point-scale and evidence of leadership and service. Marie Lynch Julius ’83 Scholarship
Offered to an entering female from St. Viator High School and/or Mother McAuley High School.
Michael McDonagh Scholarship
This scholarship is available to support an incoming student from North Lawndale Preparatory in Chicago, IL.
This scholarship is awarded to a graduate of Leo Catholic H.S. in Chicago, IL or any Cristo Rey school. The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 2.8 and demonstrated leadership qualities.
Thomas Tully Family Scholarship*
The Thomas M. Tully Family Scholarship is for an entering graduate from St. Ignatius College Prep. The scholarship is $25,000 per year for 4 years for one student. Kevin Thomas Hurley ’72 Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a graduate of Benedictine High School.
Father Michael J. Lavelle, S.J. Cleveland Alumni Chapter Scholarship
In honor of Fr. Lavelle, who made a lasting impact on the JCU and Cleveland community, this scholarship is made available to students from the greater Cleveland area who have shown extracurricular and leadership involvement.
This is awarded to an incoming student who is a resident of Cleveland with a minimum GPA of 2.8 at a Cleveland public high school or a high school in the Cleveland Diocese and desires to become a teacher. An application is required.
This award is presented to a graduate of Cleveland Central Catholic High School with a minimum GPA of 2.75.
Muer Detroit Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a student from Detroit, Michigan, with unmet financial need.
Andrew "Dewey" McCarthy Scholarship*
This award recognizes an incoming first-year student who has demonstrated record of leadership, citizenship, and academic ability who hails from the New England area. The Andrew McCarthy Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by Dewey’s family, friends, teammates, classmates and co-workers. Since 1983, money has been raised in support of the scholarship, and today the fund is fully endowed. The scholarship has been awarded annually since 1988. Separate application required.

This award is given to a graduate of Warren JFK High School in Youngstown, OH who has a minimum 2.50 GPA and has demonstrated leadership qualities.
Sandusky St. Mary Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an incoming student from St. Mary Central Catholic High School in Sandusky, Ohio, with a minimum GPA of 3.25.
Erie Cathedral Prep/Villa Maria Scholarship
This award is available to a graduate of Erie Cathedral Preparatory School or Villa Maria Academy who has maintained a minimum GPA of 3.0 and has an ACT of 24, or an SAT of 1000.
This scholarship is presented to a student from Pittsburgh, PA with strong academic credentials and unmet financial need.
Mastrantoni Family Scholarship
The Mastrantoni Scholarship is designated for students from Western New York who present the greatest financial need. Preference is given to graduates of St. Francis High School.
Tim Russert Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial support to students demonstrating financial need from the Buffalo area.
Mr. and Mrs. Brian Henke '77 Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an incoming student with 3.0 GPA from Marquette University High School, Pius XI Catholic High School, or St. Mary Central High School in Wisconsin.
Alumni Board Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an incoming first-year student who is a child of an alumnus. An application is required.
Class of 1961 Scholarship
This scholarship are awarded to an incoming freshman with unmet need, based on appeal.
Class of 1964 Scholarship*
An application is required. This award is available to an incoming first-year student who is a child or relative of a member of the Class of 1964. The Class of 1964 will reach out to their class members to solicit nominations and the committee will choose the recipient.
Iota Chi Upsilon Alumni Scholarship*
An application is required. This scholarship is awarded to a son, daughter, niece, nephew, or grandchild of a member of Iota Chi Upsilon.
John W. Ray Scholarship*
An application is required. Open to any US high school graduate with a min GPA of 2.75, involvement in extracurricular activities, and evidence of leadership. Priority given to a relative of the JCU football teams from 1959-1963.
Bernadette M. Murphy Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an incoming student who has danced with Murphy Irish Arts in Beachwood, OH a minimum of five years. A minimum GPA of 2.80 is required. An application is required.
Debbie Wilson Scholarship
Awarded to an incoming student from a Cristo Rey High School. Preference given to a student from Atlanta, Georgia.
Howard and Mary Anne Hanna Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship is available to assist an incoming student who is a relative of a Howard Hanna Employee. FAFSA completion is required. Recipients must meet academic standards. An application is required.
Mildred P. Bach Scholarship
This award is provided to an incoming first-year student who has proven himself or herself to have the highest of academic credentials.
This scholarship is awarded to a well-rounded student with the greatest need, working to fund their education.
Rev. John McDonough Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an incoming first-year student and is based on academic merit and financial need. An application is required.
Robert Meyerson Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an incoming first-year student based on academic merit and financial need.
This scholarship is provided to an incoming first-year student with extraordinary unmet need.
This award is presented to a student who has a min 3.75 GPA, a min ACT score of 30, and is either member of the Honors Program, Arrupe Scholars Program, or Leadership Scholars Program.
